Chapter 17
The sound of footsteps echoed around, and then suddenly, someone shouted in surprise, “It’s Dr. Crowe!”
“No way, it’s really Dr. Crowe! How am I running into legendary Thane Crowe on my first day at med school?
“Wow, I almost feel jealousy of that applicant who fainted!”
Everyone crannd their necks, eager to catch a glimpse of Thane’s miraculous presence,
They saw an old man with gray hair step forward, quickly checking the patient’s pulse and face. He rolled the guy’s eyelids and took a cloth bag from his assistant’s hands, revealing a whole row of silver needles.
Without wasting any time, he grabbed a needle that was over ten centimeters long and went
in for the stab.
One needle down, and the patient didn’t budge. Thane frowned, then punctured the guy in different spots.
After finishing up with all the needles, the patient was still out cold. Thane’s brow furrowed, cold sweat forming on his forehead
“Quick, get him to the emergency room! He’s not in good shaper he ordered sharply.
But then a calm voice cut through the tension. “It’s too late for that! If you move him now, he’ll be dead for sure.”
Thane looked up to see a girl with a braid and black–framed glasses squatting in front of him, ready to adjust his needles.
Thane valued those needles a lot. “Hey, what do you think you’re doing?” he asked, slightly annoyed.
“Saving him! We can’t just stand by and watch his bfe hang in the balance. He wa
was just here to apply for a job!”
“Do you even know what you’re talking about?”
Amaris looked in her early twenties, and even the students surrounding Thane were a bit taken aback.
“Where’s this hillbilly come from? How dare she mess with things when a life’s at stake! Someone get her out of here?” “Seriously, who does she think she is, questioning Dr. Crowe’s skills! Someone must have sent her here just to stir
up
trouble!”
“No way.
ay isn’t she the applicant without a degreet Wow, she’s got some guts!”
Thane caught everyone’s comments in an instant, especially the part about her not having a degree. He quickly grabbed her hand, which was fidgeting around
“If we don’t save him, it’s gonna be a real disaster!” Amaris tightened her grip on the needle and playfully squeezed Thane’s wrist.
A wave of numbness washed over him as he let go of her hand. It turned out she really knew her stuff–those random pinches weren’t so random after all. They were packed with some serious skill.
“She’s so young, yet clearly has some impressive training. Is she.. Thane wondered
Suddenly, he saw Amaris whip out a needle, grab the patient’s hand, and jab it into a vital point without a
a moment’s hesitation.
Her moves were incredibly smooth, and the way she handled the needles made bystanders think they were watching a scene straight out of a film.
A few needles later, she took the patient’s hand again and lightly squeezed the silver needle for a few seconds. As she pulled it out again, dark blood instantly streamed down the patient’s linger.
Just a quirt sigh escaped the patient as he slowly stirred back to concinness
This scene was amazing! Not only did the doctors around Thane look completely stunned, but the applicants were even more shocked–they
couldn’t even lose their mouths
The crowd
derupted in applause as Amaris pulled the needle from the patient’s arm and gave him another reassuring tap on the shoulder “You’re way too tense, and it’s blow king your circulation. Just take it easy! You can always get a job, but you’ll only live once

Ax she was about to get back in line for the application, Amans heard Thane call out behind her, “Excuse me, young lady, please stay!”
The other doctors around him tired their attention as well, thear eyes wide with interest. Sclyn Dove, a student of Thane, knew how much Thaner valued talent and leaned in to quietly offer a heads–up. “Dr. Crowe just a tip—she embarrassed you publicly and wears her heart on her sleeve, so don’t into any decisionTM

Then she turned to Amaris, giving her an encouraging smile. “You’re here for the jobs, right? You’re doing great, so keep your chin up?”
It was dear she meant Anaris could get back to the line, But Thane wasn’t done yet. He called out. “May I ask your name, young lady?”
Amaris had grown up leaning medicine from her grandfather, and to her, being a doctor meant saving lives, plain and simple. She wasn’t looking to take advantage of what had just happened.
Honestly, she thought the hospital was pretty average, and the famous Dr. Crowe didn’t seem all that great, if she’d known, she might have skipped. submitting her resume altogether
