Amaris turned to walk away, not sparing a glaner back at Thane’s question. But Thane was hot on her heels, nervously calling out. “Are you Amaris
She paused, and her hesitation only convinced Thane further as he stepped closer and took her hand.
The onlookers exchanged confused glances–What is Dr. Crowe on about! Is he really looking for talent?”
Thane’s eyes sparkled with excitement, really to speak, when Amaris interrupted with a frosty voice. “Let’s talk in your office
Her boldness shocked Thane’s students and other applicants. Yer Thane didn’t miss a beat and escorted Amaris to his office.
Behind the closed door, he bowed deeply to Amaris, Tm Thane Crowe, the forty–ninth studeur of FletcherSpire. I had no idea it was you, Senior Wynn I hope you don’t find my manners too forward”
Taken aback by his behavior, Amaris took a couple of steps back. “Whoa, hold up.
- p. You’re far too old for that! Just call me Amaris”
But Thane wouldn’t budge. I can’t do that You’re the senior student of FletcherSpire and our mentor’s direct disciple. Your age doesn’t change your seniority. We have to respect the rules.”
“Does my grandpa know you’re such a stickler! Just call me Amaris, it’s fine.”
Realizing she was getting annoyed. Thane quickly straightened up, calling her by name.
Amans brightened at that, and Thane, seeing her more relaxed demeanor, asked about her grandpa’s well–being and health.
Eventually, the real reason for Amaris’s visit came to light she was there to apply for a job. Thane was so
as so stunned that he could hardly close his
mouth
“Amaris, what is my humble place compared to your standards? How about I just hand over my dean’s chair!” he offered, scrambling for a way to impress her.
Amaris rolled her eyes, thinking, ‘Do I really look like someone who wants to take over?
Waving her hand dismissively. Amaris said. “No need for that I’ve got an agreement with the Hale family that requires me to stay in Arborteld for the time being. I’m just looking for a random job to get by, so why would I want your position?”
Thane found himself in a tight spot again. As the senior disciple of FletcherSpire, Amaris’s reputation was prett
pretty solid
“Well, the other hospital I’m starting is about to break ground, and it’s going to be even bigger than this one. If you want it, it’s yours. You’ve got to have some foothold, right? I hear the Hale family has some decent money backing them.” Thane said.
Amans waved her hand again. “No, thanks. Don’t you have a university here! I’d rather just be a p
“Wait, you’re thinking about being a teacher?” Thane asked, puzzled

professor”
“Of course you are! Thane sighed, feeling a bit down. Being a teacher just felt a bit beneath the senior disciple of FletcherSpire.
“Then it’s a deal,” said Amaris…
Given their age difference, Amaris didn’t have much in common with Thane, but being a teacher sounded good, especially since it meant avoiding Cric’s poker face all day
Once the job was sorted, Amaris said her goodbyes. Thane walked her out, introducing her to a few of his favorite students. This is Ms. Wynn. She’ll be joining us as a professor, taking the fresh class. Selwyn, Ill need you to look after her from now on
Selwyn could hardly believe what she was hearing
Thane was notoriously picky–each recruit went arough a gauntlet of scrutiny. Only real genius could be picked.
How did this girl go from saving someone on a whim to landing a teaching position at the university? So what was it that got her in Was she just lucky? I mean, she’s just an arrogant hillbilly, Selwyn thought
