Chapter 30
The frustration Amaris felt only lasted a few seconds before she let it go. Whatever. I’ve got a job now. I’ll just earn the money slowly, she thought.
With that, Amaris loosened her grip and handed the bag to Oric. “Wait, let me borrow it for a bit. I need to put my stuff in there”
Ovric’s lips twitched, Shouldn’t she at least thank me? Thank me for letting her be the center of attention for once he muttered.
Instead, Osric chuckled lightly and teased her in front of everyone, “So tell me once you’ve put your stuff in it, are you carrying the bag, or am I?
“Of.. of course you’re carrying it. It’s your bag now! But when we’re home, I need my things back.” Amaris replied.
Laughter erupted from the audience, quickly followed by a round of applause.
Aside from a few troublemakers earlier, most of the guests found Amaris absolutely endearing. How did someone manage to blend innocence, ass, aloofness, and pride all at once?
By the end of the evening, Amans had become the most talked–about person at the event. After some strategic media coverage, her name, alongside Osrc’s, climbed to the very top of the trending list, knocking Ismay and Osric’s earlier headlines clean off
Online, netizens were just beginning to put the pieces together. [So Ismay is Amaris’s sister? No wonder Osric went to support his fiancée’s little sister’s competition. Makes sense now.
[Why does Amaris’s outfit look so weird, yet it kind of works? That hot pink color should be a disaster, but somehow, she’s pulling it off!]
[I can’t believe I actually like someone who stutters. Watching Amaris struggle to get her words out while still roasting people is just too cute!]
As discussions about Amaris gained traction, a new trending topic emerged: Ismay should get her act together. Unlike the earlier blind praise, this time the comments were full of criticism. Most users called out Ismay for her antics: seducing her sister’s fiance, maliciously editing footage, and buying fake trends.
By the time Amaris got home and checked her phone, she was fuming. Great. The money I spent on those trending topics? Down the drain!
Between her debt and failed investments, it looked like Amaris had no choice but to show up at the hospital for work the next day.
“Mr. Hale, Ma. Wynn, how was your evening?” Kate asked eagerly, only to stop short when her gaze landed on Amaris’s face. Her lips twitched.
That makeup is outrageous! But judging by Osric’s expression, their relationship seems fine, Kate thought
“I’m… going to take a shower, Amaris said, bolting up the stairs,
Soon, Kate brought out a fragrant bowl of soup for Ouric. “Mr. Hale, this is from Mrs. Hale. She insisted you drink it to stay healthy.”
Ouric’s eyes lingered on the staircase, watching Amaris retreat. When the bowl was set in front of him, he finally looked down.
Realizing it was from his grandmother, Osric picked it up and drank it in a few gulps.
As Oric handed the empty bowl back, his gaze swept across the room. Then he said coldly. Tell Ava to pack her things and leave tonight”
“How could I tolerate being manipulated by a mere servant? Osric thought.
Later, Osric returned to his room, undoing the buttons of his shirt. He pulled it off and tossed it aside before walking into the bathroom. Lost in thought, Osric didn’t notice anything amiss until he opened the door. Something went off. Looking up, he froze.
The scene before him was stunning
ming. Amaris’s curves, her waist, her legs–everything was perfect.
Amaris let out a startled yell, her voice shaking with both panic and fury. “Oric, are you out of your mind! Get out!”
It was the first time Osric had seen her truly a
truly angry. He wondered. But if she doesn’t want me to see her, why is she using my bathroom to shower!
