When Derek got drunk again, I brought clam chowder to the private room at the bar.
Derek, who had always been haughty and reserved, now looked disheveled, with his arms gently wrapped around Rebecca.
Rebecca’s lips were swollen, and her white dress made her look as pure as a lily.
“Derek, stop it. Your fiancée will get mad!”
Rebecca covered the neckline of her dress and played hard to get, looking extremely coy.
Lost in the moment, Derek murmured, “Sheila doesn’t hold a candle to you. She is just a
substitute.”
Someone in the room teased, “Aren’t you afraid your fiancée will leave you if you go too far?”
Derek replied dismissively, “She’s so obsessed with me that I can’t even shake her off. It’s
annoying.”
Rebecca pouted, “Derek, how can you say that about Sheila?”
Derek shrugged. “I’ve told her I don’t feel anything for her, but she’s been clinging to me for four and a half years. Isn’t that annoying?”
There was a burst of laughter in the room.
The moment I pushed the door open, everyone turned to look at me.
I brought the clam chowder and placed it in Rebecca’s hand without any expression.
“Derek, tomorrow’s wedding is off. Have fun. I won’t disturb you anymore.”
Derek froze for a moment, then snapped, “Sheila, don’t you dare say that again!”
I took a deep breath and said flatly, “Derek, we’re done.”
Then, someone tried to smooth things over. “Sheila, don’t be rash. Derek acts tough, but he’s
got a kind heart.”
Derek, now furious, shot back, “Let her go. She’d better not come crawling back to me.”
Rebecca clung to Derek’s arm, smirking at me behind his back.
Without hesitation, I shoved the engagement ring into Rebecca’s hand, took back my clam
chowder, and walked out.
The others turned to Derek. “Derek, Sheila’s left. What about the wedding tomorrow?”
Derek kissed Rebecca’s cheek and answered, “She’ll be back, begging for forgiveness in less
than three hours.”
I sneered, amazed at his confidence.
When I was infatuated with him, he was my everything. But now that I didn’t care, he meant
nothing.
I took out my phone, blocked Derek, and deleted him from my life.
After that, I called my friends and family to tell them the wedding was off.
口
Everyone urged me to calm down, reminding me of the five years we’d spent together. My parents even forbade me from coming home until I reconciled with Derek.
The Fletcher and the Jones families were both prominent families in Kinnaird, and no one

wanted to be the laughingstock.
Maybe I’d been too obedient, making everyone think I’d always tolerate anything.
However, only I knew that there was a wild beast living inside me.
Back then, I’d chased Derek relentlessly just to escape a playboy.

I looked down at my phone as Ethan said, “Cutie, come here. I won’t let anyone hurt you.”
He truly lived up to his reputation as a wealthy man in Kinnaird, and news of my canceled
wedding had already reached him.
It was no secret that Ethan was reckless, and despite coming from a prestigious family, his
reputation was already in tatters.
Back in school, Ethan had been my nightmare.
He’d targeted me relentlessly, teaming up with a few hooligans to bully me.
As no one else was around, Ethan locked me in the reference room and cornered me, then
kissed me forcefully.
Even after all these years, I still remembered the taste of blood in that kiss.
It was my first kiss.

Finally, Derek heard the noise in the reference room, and I could escape from his clutches.
From then on, I became Derek’s most devoted admirer.
As I left the club, I saw Ethan stepping ou
of a black Rolls–Royce.
He was tall, exuding the aura of a born aristocrat.
Ethan crooked his finger at me, laughing shamelessly.
Perhaps the beast inside me had awakened. Without thinking, I got into his Rolls–Royce.
Ethan raised an eyebrow and smiled, “Cutie, I haven’t seen you in so long.”
I handed him the clam chowder. “Here. Want some?”
“I’m allergic.”
“I made it myself.”
“All right. Being allergic is nothing. Even if it were poison, I’d drink it all up.”
I rolled my eyes.
Watching Ethan enjoy the chowder, I teased, “I was going to feed it to a stray dog. Lucky you.”
“Hey…” Ethan spat out the chowder.
Annoyed, he said, “Am I worse than a dog?”
“Why are you here?”
For the first time, I looked at the man in front of me seriously. He seemed more mature than in his school days.
Aside from his bad reputation, Ethan was flawless.
No wonder so many socialites pursued him, and his scandals never stopped.
“I want to pursue you again.”
“Well…” I sighed, “No, I don’t want to go through that!”

After all, he’d deeply hurt my tragile heart back then.

Besides, it would be insane for a proper girl like me, freshly dumped, to get involved with
meone as notorious as him.
“Are you scared?”
I just don’t want to be with you.”
“Derek found his first love, and you can find yours.”
“My first love? You?”
stared at Ethan in shock.
“Do you want to go back to Derek?”
“How could I go back to him?”
Looking at Ethan’s striking face, I had to admit I was completely captivated.
Ethan patted my head affectionately and said, “You’re right.”
Then, I turned away, refusing to look at him as the car stopped at a six–star hotel.
“Ethan, what do you want? Why are we at a hotel?”
“The best way to get back at your ex–boyfriend is to check into his family’s hotel with your ✓ one!”
Ethan snickered, leading me out of the car and into the elevator.
1 realized Ethan had a twisted sense of humor.
As soon as the elevator doors closed, he forcefully pinned me against the wall and kissed me cely.
Unlike Derek’s gentleness, Ethan’s kiss was aggressive, domineering, and possessive.
I was breathless, my face flushed as I pushed him away.
We were so absorbed that we didn’t notice the elevator doors opening.
Outside, Derek stood with Rebecca, staring at us in disbelief.
I was clinging weakly to Ethan, our bodies pressed tightly together.
“Derek, am I seeing this right? Sheila’s cheating on you with another guy?” Rebecca pretended to be shocked, but her eyes gleamed with triumph. Ethan, on the other hand, looked amused. He even whistled tauntingly at Derek. Derek glared at us and said, “Sheila, how dare you?”
