Ethan, disturbed from his sleep, called the police.
After the police took Derek away, the world finally quieted down.
We slept soundly through the night, and I woke up to Ethan’s kisses.
From that night on, there was something different in Ethan’s eyes when he looked at me.
I covered my face with the quilt. I couldn’t stand his gaze, as if he was going to devour me
alive.
“Cutie, let’s get married.”
“What? Are you joking?”
“The Jones family and the Fletcher family’s alliance has failed, so you need to find a new
backer for your family, right? I think my family is a good fit,” Ethan explained seriously.
I had almost forgotten about my family’s situation. In a way, my marriage to Derek had
already lost its meaning.
If I didn’t have a valid reason, my family would never agree to cancel the engagement with
Derek.
But why did Ethan choose me?
“So why did you choose to marry me?”
“Cutie, if you sleep with me and don’t marry me, you’re taking advantage of me. I can’t let you
do that.”
Two hours later, Ethan and I walked out of the City Hall. Holding the marriage certificate, I felt
a bit dazed.
Ethan, on the other hand, was beaming.
He took out his phone and snapped pictures of the marriage certificate from every angle. An hour later, the photo of our marriage certificate topped the headlines on Instagram. Our phones were instantly flooded with calls.
Ethan turned off his phone and took me on a flight to France.
He said he wanted to spend a perfect honeymoon with me.
We held hands as we strolled through the streets of Paris.
Under the Eiffel Tower, Ethan knelt on one knee and proposed to me.
We shared a romantic kiss in the lavender fields of Provence.
We walked through almost every street in France, including the Arch of Triumph, the Louvre, and the Notre Dam.
first.
By the time we returned home, a month had passed.
As I helplessly looked at the countless messages on my phone, I didn’t know who to reply to
While I was in a dilemma, someone called me.
“Sissy, you finally answered. I thought you’d been murdered.”
It was my bestie, Mia Chilton.

I smiled sweetly at Ethan. “Hey, what’s up? I’m good, and I just got married.”
“Married? Wow, Sheila, you’re amazing. You have to come to the club tonight. We need to
catch up.”
“Alright.”

Before heading out, I applied several layers of concealer to my neck, but I still couldn’t hide
the hickeys.
I glared at Ethan, who looked nonchalant, and said, “Thanks to you, I have to wear a turtleneck
in this heat.”
“Cutie, do you want to see the scratches you left on my back?”
Ethan showed me his wounds with a pitiful look.
I slipped away right away.
As soon as Mia saw me, she started ranting about Derek.
“Sissy, you know what? Derek went so far! While you were gone, he’s been dating Rebecca nonstop, and he’s been telling everyone you’re just a substitute for her.”
I listened calmly and showed Mia the diamond ring on my finger, as big as a pigeon egg. “What does that have to do with me? I’m married now.”
Mia looked at me in disbelief. “Sissy, are you serious about Ethan?”
Everyone knew Ethan, the wealthy playboy in Kinnaird, and I was known for my proper demeanor.
No one could believe Ethan would change for me.
I thought for a moment and said, “Well, Ethan isn’t quite like the rumors. He’s pretty great.” “Good for you, Sissy. I’ve always hated Derek’s hypocrisy. He’s a je*k, but he pretends to be affectionate. But how did you fall for a playboy like Ethan?”
“I didn’t. He came to me on his own. I’m done obsessing over any man!”
“Sissy, it’s about time. You’re so perfect that you can get any man. Did Derek deserve you? Cheers! To you ditching that je*k.
“Another toast. To your happy marriage.”
Mia had a low alcohol tolerance but loved to drink. After just a few glasses, she was too drunk
to walk.
So, I asked Mia to find someone to help take her home.
A few minutes later, Derek and his friend Xavier Burton showed up in our private room.
Xavier greeted me immediately, “Sheila, I ran into Derek on the way, so we came together to say hi.”
