With that video, the police quickly confirmed that Wilbur had followed Clara to the restroom. After she passed out from drinking, he tried to drag her away.
Not wanting to leave a hotel trail, Wilbur had planned to do his dirty work right there in the car. Luckily, I showed up just in time to stop him
“Clara is the younger sister of Ms. Moreno here. When a family faces this kind of situation, it’s only natural to fight back and protect your own.” Jeremy continued, his tone as calm and detached as ever.
“At that point, they were still in the car. Ms. Moreno couldn’t open the door to stop the crime, so she had no choice but to act as she did,” he continued.
Jeremy’s words were cool, almost clinical, as if he were stating an unremarkable fact–a fact that didn’t concern him. But there was something in his tone that made me feel safer, more secure than I’d expected.
With Jeremy’s testimony, my 911 call logs, and the surveillance footage as evidence, Wilbur was arrested. I was left behind to finish my statement before I could go.
Jeremy waited for me outside.
1 walked up to him. “Thank you. I really can’t thank you enough for today.”
Jeremy raised an eyebrow, slightly frowning. “You’re a handful, you know? Just one random phone call, and you don’t even explain yourself.”
He handed me a room key. “Your sister’s in the room. I had someone change her clothes. Go check on her.”
I numbly took the key, muttering another thank you.
“Don’t forget to cover the room fee,” he added, almost as an afterthought.
“Right. I felt my cheeks burn with embarrassment. I couldn’t bring myself to look him in the eye, so I just nodded repeatedly.
Then, unexpectedly, Jeremy chuckled. “By the way, you looked pretty badass swinging that axe at the car. I liked it” I stared at him, utterly confused. “What?”
Jeremy smirked. “If I hadn’t seen you go all in, I probably wouldn’t have bothered pulling you out of that mess.”
1… didn’t understand him at all. He came across as a calmn, well–mannered doctor, but underneath it all, he had this carefree, almost rebellious vibe.
I forced a smile. I was just… desperate. I didn’t really think about the consequences”
“In that situation,” he said, his eyes fixed on the stars above, “anyone who thinks about the consequences is the real pervert” He looked over at me, nodding slightly. “You did well”
His words hit me harder than I expected, and for a second, I almost felt tears well up. For the first time, someone was acknowledging my reckless impulse–not as a mistake, but as something right.

Chapter 101
“Can you still drive?” he asked.
“I can.”
Then take me home.”
“Sure!” I quickly followed his lead.
He gave me an address and immediately leaned back in the passenger seat, drifting off to sleep.

I drove cautiously, but when we reached the location, I realized it was a garden villa. Without proper ID. I couldn’t even get past the front gate.
1 glanced over at Jeremy, still fast asleep, and reluctantly woke him. “Mr. Norman, we’re here, but the security won’t let me

Jeremy stirred, clearly irritated. He rolled down the window and spoke to the guard. “It’s me.”
“Ah, Mr. Norman! My apologies, we’ll open the gate right away.”
The gate opened, and I had to drive around a couple of times before I finally reached the entrance. The villa was enormous, and the landscaping was so elaborate that I ended up getting lost.
Jeremy stumbled out of the car, and soon the butler and staff came out to greet him.
I watched him from a distance as he disappeared into the glow of the lights. Lowering my gaze, I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. “We’re from different worlds, aren’t we?”
