Chapter 108
Jeremy mentioned a date, and to my surprise, it was the same year I married Dexter
I couldn’t help but feel a little nostalgic. “Who would’ve thought? If you’d been a bit harder on him back then make wor of this would’ve happened to me.”
But Jeremy just gave me a knowing look and said, “You can’t rely on others for everything It’s better to depend on yoursel
I nodded. “Got it. Dr. Norman
As I glanced at his handsome, well–defined features, I suddenly remembered the gosip the nurses hard shared adu
They said Jeremy was the most eligible bachelor in the entire medical field in Fairhaven Counties young women had tried to win him over, but no one had succeeded.
Honestly, now that I thought about it, Jeremy was not only a brilliant doctor but also reliable. He wa
except for one thing: he had a mouth that didn’t mince words.
Having been through the ups and downs of marriage, I could handle someone as straightforward as Jeremy
But young girls, full of romantic ideals and fairy–tale dreams, probably couldn’t stomach his bluntness. I bet most of them would be out the door within a day.
I was still lost in thought when Jeremy noticed I wasn’t paying attention. He asked, “How’s your company’s project coming along?”
“It’s in progress. We’re set to sign the contract next Monday”
“Not bad. Your company’s planning is solid, especially yours. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders.” Jeremy sad, raising an eyebrow. “I like working with smart people. It makes things less exhausting”
“Guess I should thank you for the compliment, Dr. Norman,” I replied, a little taken aback
“You should. Think about how much I’ve helped you,” he said with a casual smile
I was speechless.
“Alright, one meal isn’t enough to show my gratitude. How about this: if you ever need help with something just let me know. I’ll be there whenever you call,” I said, trying to sound sincere.
Jeremy snorted lightly. “Whenever I call? You’re throwing around big words. Is this how business people talk?
“It’s not like that,” I said quickly. “Unless it’s something I absolutely can’t leave–like family matters, or if the company really needs me–then I’ll make sure I’m there if I can
“But to be honest, I can only commit to three times. If you need anything else, just let me know in advance. Whenever you call only applies three times,” I added, stressing the limit.
To my surprise, Jeremy wasn’t offended. If anything his smile widened. “Alright.”
This meal was much more relaxed than lunch. At least I didn’t have to deal with the uncomfortable sight of those people stuffing their faces.
I ate my fill and felt satisfied. When the meal ended, I did the same as last time and drove Jeremy back

This time, the security guard recognized both my car and me. He greeted me with a friendly smile. You’re lucky, gettin be Mr. Norman’s driver”
I smiled back politely but didn’t respond.
After a busy day, I was relieved to remember I had a day off tomorrow. It was just the break I needed
When I got home. Juno was still waiting for me. Juno had missed me all day and was clinging to me tightly.
I washed up while he kept me company, and when I drank some milk, he insisted on watching me. He followed me everywhere, right until we both lay down in bed.
“Mommy,” Juno’s sweet voice interrupted the quiet. “Can I ask you something“”
“Of course, sweetheart. What’s on your mind?”
“Mommy, did you and Daddy get a divorce?”
The question caught me off guard. I had never really talked to Juno about the divorce.
