Chapter 115
I quietly moved to a corner to watch them, and when Rhea wasn’t paying attention, I snapped a few photos.
Maybe luck was on my side, because just as I pulled out my phone, the older man kissed Rhea right on the cheek. She smiled shyly in response.
I watched coldly, a mocking thought flashing through my mind. “Dexter, oh Dexter, while you are playing me, do you ever stop to think that someone else is doing the same to you?‘
At that moment, I became even more certain that Rhea and Leah weren’t the same person.
Leah had to be Alton’s mother. I didn’t know why, but after she had this child, she left Dexter. Then, he got involved with Rhea, making her his lover and getting her to help raise his child.
I thought, “What a masterstroke. For a moment, I almost didn’t feel so bad about being deceived. “Look at Rhea–playing the role of the mistress while also helping raise the guy’s kid. Such dedication. I couldn’t help but feel a bit inferior.
After taking the photos, I quietly slipped away.
With the Srouver townhouse secured, I took a moment to calculate my finances. After paying for the house, I still had enough for living expenses and set aside some for Juno’s surgery and treatment.
Oh, right. I still had some insurance policies I’d bought for my family years ago. Now they were coming in handy.
I was in the middle of all this when suddenly, Dexter called, panic in his voice.
“It’s bad! Manuela just got into a fight with someone! You need to get to the City Hospital right now, and bring some money!”
I was stunned for a moment, my mind going blank. Once I gathered myself, I asked, “Who’s hurt?”
“Manuela’s fine, but the person she fought with is still in the hospital. Do you know anyone who could help mediate? This person might press charges against her…”
I was furious. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I’m busy. I’ll talk to you once I’m done.”
“Sylvia, do you even have a conscience? Manuela came to help, and you’re just leaving her at the hospital? If it weren’t for you, they wouldn’t even be in Fairhaven, and none of this would have happened!”
Dexter started throwing accusations in a frantic voice. I couldn’t be bothered and just hung up on him.
I contacted Ezekiel, asking him to help me reach some people in the medical field–ideally those with access to rare blood type resources. I’d rather pay someone else than get involved with these people.
Of course, I wasn’t putting all my eggs in one basket. I didn’t tell Dexter, but after finishing my tasks, I calmly made my way to the hospital.
When I saw who was lying in the bed, I froze in shock. It was Sheila.
The poor girl had half of her head smashed open, and from the looks of it, she had received a fair amount of stitches.
Her boyfriend was standing beside her, yelling at Manuela. Meanwhile, Dexter was practically groveling, his posture so humble it was almost embarrassing.
Seeing this, I couldn’t help but think, ‘Sheila and Dexter must not have any real connection. What I saw earlier was probably

just a coincidence… Otherwise, why would Dexter be acting like this?
When she saw me, Sheila’s tears started to pour. “Sylvia…
“What happened?” I asked as I walked over to her.
Sheila grabbed my sleeve and explained everything that had happened.

Before she could finish, I was already feeling a headache coming on. I was both angry and amused. I glanced over at Manuela, who still didn’t seem to understand what she had done wrong.
She lifted her chin defiantly, standing in the corner with that “I’m the victim” attitude, clearly unwilling to take any responsibility.
“It was just a bottle to the head. Does she really need to be so delicate?” Manuela said, her voice dripping with condescension.
