“Sheila is my subordinate. I’m not the one who hurt her, I understand your anger, but taking it out on me isn’t right” I gave the young man a sharp, dismissive look. There was something about him that didn’t sit right with me.
Sheila quickly pulled on his arm. “Stop. This is Sylvia, my boss. This has nothing to do with her.”
But Manuela, clearly trying to make things even messier, added, “She’s still my ex–sister–in–law. Of course, she’ll help me! Without me, she wouldn’t be able to save her son. You don’t want to just watch him die, do you?”
That was the last straw. I turned and grabbed her chin, silencing her. She made a muffled sound, unable to speak.
I said coldly, “If you keep running your mouth, I won’t tolerate it anymore. If you don’t want to donate blood, then leave. Ill take back the money I promised you and split it among others. Let’s see if they’d rather take the money or go back with you.”
