Chapter 152
Chapter 152
I kept apologizing. “Wait for me, I’ll be there in a minute.
Since my car was also being repaired, I had to take a taxi to pick him up.
When Jeren saw me arriving in a taxi, his expression was priceless–part shock, part amusement, and a touch of disbelief.
Lexplained, “My car window’s broken.”
“Oh, so that car with the shattered window was yours?” Jeremy said, mocking me without hesitation.
I was speechless.
When we got to the hospital, he got out of the car and suddenly asked, “What’s your blood type”
“And that scumbag!”
“I don’t know. Probably RH–negative… I hadn’t even finished my sentence when it hit me. I looked up at Jeremy in shock.
The smile on his face was simple, but the answer was right there. Without a word, he turned and walked away.
I sat in the car, stunned, for a long time. It wasn’t until the driver nudged me that I snapped out of it. I hurried to take Juno to the Children’s Hospital. There was good news and bad news.
The good news was that Juno had been responding well to treatment. His condition was better than expected, and if things stayed stable, we could bring the surgery forward.
The bad news was that the blood preparation had failed, so I’d have to opt for a more reliable surgical plan.
This meant Juno and I would have to wait a bit longer. There was no perfect treatment option, so I had to go with the safest one. For Juno’s life. I had no choice but to hold on.
After speaking with the doctor, I felt a lot better. The worst feeling was charging ahead without a clear direction, but now that the second plan was set, I felt more at case
I took Juno to buy him his favorite snacks and then we grabbed a cab home.
When Martha heard that Juno was stable but the surgery would need to be delayed, she sighed in relief and clasped her hands together
She said. “That’s great. Slowing down isn’t a problem. It might be better to wait until he’s stronger before the surgery, Sylvia, don’t rush it. Juno is a lucky child. He’ll be fine.”
I nodded. “Yeah.”
ay calm. Today, something Jeremy had said gave me an unexpected idea–one
I wasn’t in a rush. If anything, at this critical juncture, I needed to stay o
so unbelievable that I couldn’t quite believe it myself
I called Dexter, but there was no answer. The second time I called, it went straight to voicemail. I went to their place, but it was empty.
It was almost laughable–Dexter was so afraid I’d find out where he was living, he didn’t even dare call the police. He’d taken Rhea and Alton and disappeared without a trace.
But he wouldn’t give up his job. He’d definitely show up at the office.
I spent a good amount of money and got the security at Dexter’s company to keep an eye out for him. As soon as he showed up, they were supposed to let me know
I waited a few days, and final
finally, I got the call from security. I dropped everything and rushed over to the office building.
Luckily, Dexter hadn’t left yet. I pushed open the door to his office.
When he saw me, his eyes practically popped out of his head. “Sylvia…”
“Don’t you think we need to talk!” I said coldly. “We can do it here, or we can step outside. Your choice.”

Dexter clearly hadn’t fully recovered from his injuries. He had come to the office just to grab some important documents so he could work from home. He hadn’t expected that his first time back at work, during office hours, he’d be caught by me.
