Chapter 62
Chapter 62
I thought, “Target A–that is Dexter’s code name.‘ 1 slammed on the brakes, “What?”
I wondered, ‘Dexter is at Core Elite Primary School? Then who is in the car I am chasing? Before I could process it, a jarring impact caught me off guard–crap, I rear–ended someone. I shouldn’t have stopped here.
Panicked, I quickly jumped out of the car. I was in too much of a hurry to deal with a traffic accident. I had to catch up Dexter–I couldn’t waste any more time. I rushed to the car behind me and knocked on the window.
“I’m so sorry! It was my fault for braking suddenly and causing the crash. Here’s my number. Can we sort out the repairs later? I really have something urgent to handle,” I spoke quickly, hoping the driver would just settle it without any fuss.
The window rolled down, and I was face–to–face with a clean–cut, handsome man. Jeremy.
“You… hi…” I stuttered, caught off guard.
Jeremy took my business card and glanced at it. “Alright, I’ll give you half a day. We can meet tonight to discuss things. Does that work?”
“Yes, yes, that works.” I nodded vigorously, hoping he wouldn’t change his mind.
He nodded back, indifferent. “Okay.” Then, he rolled the window back up.
1 quickly turned my car around and drove straight to Core Elite Primary School.
When I arrived, one of my people rushed over to report, “Ms. Moreno, he’s inside. Fourth grade, class 3.
That was all I needed to hear. My throat tightened as I fought to keep my emotions in check. My hands were trembling. The truth was right there, just ahead of me.
I stepped out of the car and slowly walked into the school, heading toward the back door of Class 4-3. Through the clear,
parents inside. well–lit windows, I could see the kids and their parents
On parent–teacher conference days, parents were allowed to observe their kids in class, interact with teachers, and even have lunch with them, getting a glimpse into their school life.
In the past, I would’ve been excited for this day. Back then, when I was still with Dexter, I dreamt of the day Juno would grow
I’d get to go to school with him, watch him study, play, and just enjoy life.
- up.
But now… now I was seeing it all, and Dexter was there for another child.
I hid behind the door and watched Dexter sitting not far from me, his back to me. I couldn’t see his expression.
The class began, and the teacher called out a name. “Alton.”
A tall, slim boy stood up to answer a question, earning applause from the class.
I saw Dexter turn his head toward the boy, his eyes filled with pride and joy. The boy glanced back at him, and they exchanged a smile full of unspoken understanding.
It hit me… This was Dexter’s son. He was already this grown, and a boy too.
I gritted my teeth, and as I watched, I felt no urge to cry anymore. All I felt was rage.

I wonder, he and that woman are so perfect for each other, if they already have a child, then why is he still dragging me
into this? Have I done something to deserve this? Am I somehow supposed to just sit back and accept it?
ith the confirmation that Dexter’s child was there, I quietly slipped away. Downstairs, I checked the class schedule and saw that the next lesson was physical education.
I saw Alton coming out, so I quickly put on my mask and sunglasses, stepping in front of him. “Hey there, do you know which floor the third–grade classrooms are on?”
As the child approached, I finally got a good look at his face. He really did look a lot like Dexter. It would be strange to think they weren’t father and son.
Alton said. “It’s on the third floor over there.”
Thanks.” I handed him a small box of gummy candy, just the right size to slip into his pocket.
I wasn’t worried about him refusing. After all, the box contained game cards, the kind every young boy was crazy about. Sure enough, after a brief pause, Alton accepted it.
With that done, I quietly left.
