I gave her a cold, unwavering stare. “Let me remind you–these are my things.” I looked her square in the eye. The house. the furniture, the appliances–they’re all mine.
“Your son has nothing to do with any of this. When we got married, your family claimed you were broke, so I paid for everything.”
I turned to Dexter. “What? Have you forgotten after all these years of living comfortably?”
His face turned pale, eyes bloodshot with fury. He glared at me as if he wanted to tear me apart.
I didn’t flinch. I shrugged nonchalantly. “You might have forgotten, but I haven’t. I kept the receipts. If you want to go to court, be my guest. Thanks to you, I’m at home with nothing but time on my hands.”
Dexter couldn’t find his words.
The movers 1 hired were quick and efficient, and in no time, the living room was cleared out.
Kimberly collapsed to the floor, wailing.
Dexter tried to stop them, but he was no match for the four movers. When he tried to confront me, my two bodyguards stepped in. He had no one to take his frustration out on.
He could only stand there, helpless, watching as I cleared out the house, while he and Kimberly’s belongings were left scattered on the floor.
The house was empty.
I looked at him coldly, my gaze devoid of any sentiment. I pulled a hammer out of my bag and slowly walked toward him.
Seeing the hammer, Dexter immediately backed up, panic in his eyes. “Sylvia, don’t do something crazy! If you hurt someone, it’s illegal!”
I almost laughed, thinking. ‘Does he really just lecture me on the law? The person who has hurt me is telling me that? It is almost laughable.”
I didn’t stop in front of him. I walked past him and straight into the bathroom. With a loud crash, I smashed the toilet and sink. I moved to the kitchen next and destroyed everything there as well.
When I came out, Dexter and Kimberly were both frozen, staring at me in disbelief.
I sighed, handed the hammer to one of my bodyguards, and tidied my hair. “I can’t take these things with me, but I don’t want you using them either. I’ll send a cleaning crew tomorrow.
“But if you two still have the nerve to stay here like today, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
It felt so good to do this. I had wanted to take action for so long. Just the thought of them taking over my house made my
blood boll
It wasn’t that I didn’t feel anything. After all, this was the home I had built with my own hands, piece by piece. It carried all my hopes for the future. And then Dexter destroyed it all. I wondered, “What right does he have to live in my house?”
I even had the bed moved. I smashed the toilet, and I wasn’t about to let Dexter stay there anymore. Sure enough, the next morning when I had the cleaning crew come, they were already gone.

Taking advantage of the situation, I had the locks changed, reset the security code, and informed the property management.
“Dexter and I are in the process of divorcing. This is my property, and it has nothing to do with him. If either he or his mother shows up here again, just throw them out immediately” I said.
Once everything was sorted, I felt light and free. I went home and slept soundly.
When I woke up, I spent the day with Juno, reading picture books and telling him stories. Juno was doing much better. slowly recovering from the bullying he had faced at school.
I decided not to send him to kindergarten for the next six months, giving him time to heal at home. I’d arrange for him to transfer to a new school next year.
Then, I got a notification from the hospital about my checkup. Upon looking closer, I saw it was scheduled for both me and Martha on the same day.
On the day of the checkup, I took Martha first. As we were waiting outside the exam room, I ran into Jeremy.
“Hello,” I greeted him politely. “Long time no see. How have you been, Dr. Norman?”
“Four surgeries today. I’m about to collapse from exhaustion. Do you think I’m okay?” He replied with a tired smile.
