Chapter 84
As expected, that night, when Rhea came home, she found the card.
Watching her fluster through the binoculars, completely lost, gave me a twisted sense of satisfaction. I thought, ‘Why am I the one struggling in the darkness, with Juno still sick, while these shameless people seem to be living it up?”
But… my eyes lingered on Rhea’s youthful face, and the puzzle in my mind only grew more complicated. Something wasn’t right–Rhea was too young to be Alton’s biological mother.
I thought. So where is his real mother, Leah! And what exactly is the relationship between Rhea and Leah?
I
pulled out my notebook and quickly jotted down these questions. Just as I finished writing. I heard raised voices from across the street. I glanced through the binoculars and saw that, sure enough, Rhea and Dexter were in the middle of an argument.
Dexter looked exhausted, his face drawn from work, but now he had to deal with Rhea’s bad mood. They argued back and forth, neither willing to back down, until Dexter stormed out, slamming the door behind him.
I couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of satisfaction watching this. Then my phone rang. To my surprise, it was Dexter. “Sylvia, are you free to talk?” His voice sounded rough and tired, as though he’d been carrying some weight.
I responded coldly, “What, did your relatives come up with a new plan?”
“No…” he said, sounding slightly hurt. “Is that the only thing you think of when you hear from me! I just want to ask you something.”
I laughed bitterly. “What else is there to talk about? You’re already living with another woman. Don’t try to play the Tm sorry game with me. There’s no need.”
“Sylvia.” He sighed heavily. “There’s something I need to ask you in person.”
Tm busy tonight. I need to be with Juno
“Alright, then. How about tomorrow? It’s Saturday, right? Are you free? Bring Juno along. It’s been ages since we’ve been to the park as a family.”
“Do you

really think I’m going to go out with you alone now? I’ll bring Juno, but I’m not going to the park. It’s too risky for
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line.
1 added, “How about we go to a mall instead? There’s a new one I know that just opened. Juno would love the toys there.” “Alright, tomorrow at 10 AM. I’ll treat you both to lunch afterward.”
I couldn’t help but smirk inwardly. His words sounded so polite, but I could hear the emptiness in them. I thought, “Treating me and Juno to lunch? I almost laughed out loud.
I didn’t call him out on it, though. “Okay”
Before leaving the complex, I made a detour to the garden area. The lighting was dim and there were fewer cameras, so I wouldn’t leave too many traces of myself.

Chapter 4
To my surprise, I overheard an unexpected scene. Dexter and Rhea were arguing again. It seemed that, right after I hung up. Rhea had chased after him.
“Who were you just talking to? Was it that Sylvia?” Rhea’s voice was filled with anger and frustration–she had clearly been crying
“Why are you making such a scene? It’s pointless, Dexter snapped, clearly fed up.
“Who’s being pointless, Dexter? Rhea shouted, her voice thick with emotion. “I’ve been following you without a title, raising your son all this time, and this is how you repay me? I always knew you were heartless, but I didn’t expect you to expose yourself this quickly.”
Rhea was furious now, slapping Dexter with a mix of anger and hurt.
I hid behind the wisteria, watching through the gaps in the leaves, the moonlight casting just enough to make everything clear. This scene was more thrilling than any Hollywood blockbuster–1 could feel my blood racing.
Dexter tried to block her a few times, but eventually couldn’t help grabbing her wrist. “Is that enough? Didn’t you say card was from Sylvia?
