Chapter 88

Dexter jumped in surprise and quickly glanced at Juno next to him.
I said, “What are you worried about? Juno’s asleep. He won’t hear anything”
蛇會72%.
I purposely kept my voice light and cheerful, and seeing the cold sweat forming on his forehead, I couldn’t help but feel at little satisfied.
By the time Juno woke up, Dexter and I took him to a few more attractions–nothing too thrilling or intense, just gentle, kid–friendly games. Juno had a great time.
When it was time to leave, I hugged Juno and said goodbye to Dexter. For a moment, I thought I saw a hint of reluctance in his eyes. I wondered, ‘Could I be mistaken? A man like him–after everything–how can he feel something like that?”
He couldn’t hold it in. “Sylvia, I really don’t want to keep calling you Ms. Moreno. We were once married, we’ve known each other so long. Even if we’ve parted ways, we’ll always be the most special people in each other’s lives.
“I admit, I was wrong before. I didn’t stop Rhea, didn’t come to your rescue in time. I regret what happened… especially with you falling into that ravine.”
1 froze. I thought, ‘Was it really Rhea who pushed me, and not Dexter?
But after a few seconds, I composed myself. “It doesn’t really matter whether it was you or her. To me, it’s the same. No need to say more. I’m waiting for the good news on your end–just don’t let me down.”
“Alright, I’ll hurry,” he said, his voice serious.
I took Juno home, and when we arrived, one of the bodyguards Id left at the mall sent me a video. It was footage of Dexter and Rhea in a violent confrontation,
In the video, Rhea was practically throwing herself at Dexter, her movements wild and frantic. He was caught off guard, almost being pushed into the railing-
Unable to take it anymore, Dexter slapped her hard across the face. That only made her more hysterical–crying, screaming, completely losing control
After watching the video, I felt a sense of satisfaction. Now this was the kind of outcome a scumbag and a shameless woman deserved. My happiness, after all, should be built on their pain.
At Juno’s next checkup, his condition was stable. After a while, once enough blood was available, they’d be able to begin the surgery.
Considering the costs for both his treatment and recovery, I decided to ask Ezekiel if I could return to work early,
Ezekiel had been struggling to find help, and now that things had calmed down, he quickly approved my request.
On my first day back, I jumped right into organizing and streamlining all the projects. My team, which I’d been managing. was quickly back in full swing-
“It’s so much better when Sylvia’s here. Look at how much we’ve accomplished this morning. Sure, we’re all tired, but at least we don’t have to work overtime tonight.”
“I totally agree. Every time we sent something to be approved recently, it felt like we were getting yelled at. It was starting to
get me down.”
“Tell ine about it. Holly’s standards just keep getting higher.”

Chapter 88
I overheard their conversation just outside the break room, and I couldn’t help but smile to myself.
Before my smile had even faded, I heard Sheila chime in. “Yeah, Sylvia’s really great. Remember the time she handed out bonuses? She gave everyone an extra 70 dollars each.
The people who’d been praising me before fell silent.
“70 dollars? Are you sure? What bonus?”
“I don’t remember that.”
“Sheila, what bonus are you talking about?”
Sheila panicked. “Ah, maybe I got it wrong. There wasn’t any bonus.”
Sheila was the person I was closest to in the team–no one else even came close. A lot of the first drafts for our projects were directly assigned to her by me.
In the eyes of everyone else, Sheila was practically my right–hand woman. When she spoke, it was almost like hearing my own words.
