Chapter 93
On one hand, they hurt you, but on the other, they still felt guilty and nostalgic.
I didn’t understand him, so I chose to step out of the game. As for how Dexter had wronged me in the past, I’d keep the evidence and settle the score in my own time.
I turned and walked away quickly.
Dexter rushed up behind me. “Can I take you out for a farewell meal?”
“There’s no need,” I said. “You said you had a meeting today, didn’t you? Work is important. You should focus on making
money.
“Juno is still waiting for us to get him treated. And by the way, this weekend, can you arrange a meeting with some of your relatives? I’d like to invite them out for a meal.
I needed to show some appreciation since I was asking them for help. As Juno’s mother, I couldn’t just show up empty- handed.
Dexter hesitated for a moment. “Alright.”
We continued walking and talking until we reached the exit of the city hall.
Apparently, our conversation upset Rhea. She stormed over, fuming, “Haven’t you already gotten divorced? Why are you still acting all buddy–buddy with Dexter? Sylvia, do you have any shame?”
I struck her hard, putting all my strength into it
Rhea stumbled back and fell down the stairs, scraping both her knees.
I looked down at her coldly. “Didn’t I warn you earlier? You’ve got a terrible memory for someone so young. It hasn’t been that long, and you already forgot? You really never learn.”
Rhea glared at me. “Dexter, this woman is bullying your wife, and you’re just standing there doing nothing? Are you really going to let her get away with this?”
“Yeah, I’m bullying you. You’re the one who came up to me looking for trouble, so what else could I do but give you exactly what you wanted?” I said.
I sneered. “If you’re not happy about it, go ahead and call the cops. I don’t mind making this a bigger deal.”
I paused and added, “After all, I’m the legitimate wife, and you’re just the hidden mistress.”
With that, I turned and walked away.
Rhea stood there, crying and yelling. Dexter, who had clearly been embarrassed by the whole scene, dragged her off, his face dark with frustration.
1 couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction.
Rhea thought she could show off in front of me. She didn’t realize that the only reason I ever got hurt before was because I trusted Dexter. But now, Dexter was just a stranger to me. Her games didn’t have the same effect anymore.
I’d never been someone with a soft temperament, I thought, ‘If I were, how could I have become the youngest

manager at a Fortune 500 company?”
After taking care of the important things. I returned to the office and threw myself back into work. I handed in several reports in the morning, but Ezekiel was still dissatisfied. Or rather, it wasn’t just him–our client wasn’t happy either.
I grabbed the documents and knocked on Ezekiel’s office door.
“Mr. Jacobson, I’d like to personally explain the project to the client,” I said.
As soon as I stepped inside, I froze. “Dr. Norman?”
Sitting across from Ezekiel, dressed in a suit, was none other than Jeremy,
For a moment, I thought I’d walked into the wrong office. I thought, ‘Am I in my company, or have I accidentally stumbled into a hospital?”
Jeremy nodded. “Hello.”
“You two know each other?” Ezekiel exclaimed, clearly surprised and pleased. “Well, that’s perfect! It’s always easier to talk with familiar faces. Mr. Norman, let me introduce you to Sylvia, one of the project leads. Don’t let her youth fool you–she’s very capable and efficient.”
Jeremy raised an eyebrow. “Is that so?”
His eyes briefly flickered toward me, and I could swear there was a hint of a smile lurking there. “I thought she only knew how to cry
I was left speechless.
