Chapter 94
Ezekiel seemed to catch on to something. The way he looked at me was full of an ambiguous, almost teasing smile.
I wanted to explain, but couldn’t find an opening. So, I just steeled myself and said, “How about we focus on the work for now? Mr. Norman, could you tell me exactly what you don’t like about the proposal? What parts need improvement?”
Jeremy said, “Because I don’t understand it, I’m not satisfied.”
Both Ezekiel and I were left speechless.
I thought, Well, that is something. After all these years in the industry, this is the first time I’ve met someone so shamelessly honest about not understanding something. If it had been anyone else, Ezekiel would have already been losing his temper
But Jeremy represented another big company, and if we closed this deal, it would mean a massive increase in collaboration funds for the next five years. It meant Ezekiel’s promotion prospects, and it meant a big leap forward for me too. Ezekiel and I exchanged a quick glance, silently acknowledging the unspoken understanding between us.
I smiled. “That’s fine. I can walk Mr. Norman through it, point by point.”
Jeremy glanced at his watch. Two hours. I still need time to eat, and I have surgery scheduled for the afternoon.”
I barely managed to stop myself from smirking. “Understood.”
Those two hours were, without a doubt, the most excruciating of my life. Even when dealing with Dexter’s affair and feeling utterly abandoned, it didn’t compare to the pressure of sitting through that meeting.
Jeremy was trained in medicine, but his family had been in business for generations. This time, he was representing his mother’s side of the family, here more for the experience and networking than to take things too seriously.
Though he didn’t fully grasp the details, he was sharp. Often, before Ezekiel had even caught on, Jeremy would pinpoint the core issue and start probing.
Thankfully, I was meticulous with my work, so I managed to hold my own and avoid embarrassing myself in front of him. After two hours, Jeremy nodded in approval. “Alright, now I believe Ms. Moreno isn’t just good at crying. She’s clearly a force to be reckoned with. Mr. Jacobson, you’re lucky to have someone like her on your team.”
Ezekiel looked starry–eyed and grinned. “Of course! Sylvia is a Wonder University graduate–she’s a real talent.”
Jeremy raised an eyebrow. “We are alumni then.”
“Wait, you’re also from Wonder University? Wonder University Medical School?” I asked, stunned.
Wonder University Medical School and Egogan Medical University were two of the most competitive and prestigious medical schools in our country.
Wonder University only accepted top–tier students from across the country, and Jeremy clearly belonged to that elite group. I never imagined he’d be a Wonder University graduate.
I was taken aback. “That’s impressive.”
“I think so too, Jeremy replied with a confident, almost youthful grin. “I’m satisfied with Ms. Moreno’s performance. We’re moving ahead with the contract. After lunch, someone will come to take over for me, and you can sign the paperwork with

them.”
I thought, ‘So, he is just here for a quick visit? I couldn’t help but feel a little speechless.
After escorting Jeremy to the door, he turned back and asked, “Ms. Moreno, aren’t you going to tree the to a meat? I’m a hig client for your company, and it would be a bit impolite not to offer a meal after sealing
I clenched my teeth inwardly. “Sure, I’ll treat you. It’s just that you mentioned you have surgery this afternoon, trying to push the meal time back a bit. What do you like to eat, Dr. Norman?”
