Chapter 17:
Junes POVE
We never spoke about what happened that night I wasn’t sure if it was because Killian couldn’t remember what happened because of how drunk he was, or if he was purposely trying to avoid talking about it, just as I was
Days passed, and the search for April was still on Killian assured that she wasn’t much hof a threat, but he would make sure he found het, so she would face justice |
My phone pinged with a message, and I released a sigh as I stared at another threatening message from April. This was probably the sixth message I had gotten from her!
You took everything from me–now I’ll ruin you. See you soon, June.”
I stared at the message from April, as my heart clenched. Another threat. What was she planning?
My first instinct was to call Killian, but I hesitated. This wasn’t the first threatening message. I had informed him about the others already. There was no use calling about it
So, I decided to wait until he got back to show him.
I took a deep breath, locked my phone and placed it on the table, and turned my attention back to the book I was reading.
A few minutes passed in silence, as I lost myself in my book. Then my phone rang.X
I frowned. The number on the screen was unknown.!!
My heart skipped a beat, as I reluctantly answered the phone. “Hello?”
There was silence on the other end for a second, then–X
“June.
I exhaled in relief, as I instantly recognized Killian’s voice. But something was… off. The tone of his voice sounded weird.
“Killian?” I asked cautiously!
“I need you to meet me,” he said with urgency in his voice. “Now.”
I sat up straighter. “Where are you?“1⁄2
“I’m texting you the location. Come alone.” He instructed M
My stomach twisted. Something didn’t feel right. “Why do I have to come alone?”
“Just do it, June, he snapped with irritation in his voice. “I don’t have time to explain.”
I froze. Killian never spoke to me like that.
He sighed. “I don’t know who to trust, that’s why I want you to come alone. There are traitors among us,““)
“Oh, okay then.” I replied slowly, even though I still felt slightly uneasy!
+ to place Killian
But before I could say anything, the call ended. A second later, my phone beeped with a message. The address of the place wanted me to come to.
I hesitated for a moment as I stared at the screen. This was strange.
But what if something was wrong? What if he was in danger?
I grabbed my purse and rushed out of the door
The driver was surprised when I told him I was going to meet Killian for something important, and that I wanted to go alone, but he didn’t argue.
As I drove to the address, my heart kept pounding, and unease grew
within me.!
When I reached the address, I stepped out with a small frown as I scanned my surroundings. The location was unfamiliar. It was in a quiet, almost abandoned street.
Something wasn’t night!!
I pulled out my phone to call Killian’s number, but a message dropped from the unknown number.
I’m inside the house with a blue door. Walk in, it’s open.
I raised my head, and immediately sighted the house with the blue door. I opened the door, and walked into the house. It was dark, and it looked empty.
A feeling of wrongness crept within me, and I couldn’t help the shiver that ran down my spine.X
“Killian?” I called, my voice shaking.!!
There was no response. I pulled out my phone, and this time I decided to call Killian’s number, not the unknown number that had called me.
It rang once, and he immediately picked.
“Hey June,” He greeted from the phone. “Are you okay? Is there anything you need me to get for you on my way home?” He asked. This was the tone of Killian’s voice that I recognized.
My blood ran cold. Killian was on his way home, so who had I been communicating with all these while?!
“June” Killian called from the phone when I didn’t reply.”
I took a step back, breathing heavily
“Kotaa?” I whispered, on voter leaking as panti sayat (
