Chapter 18
June’s POV
The back of my head throbbed with pain as I came back to consciousness. My body felt heavy, and my wrists ached. I tried to move, but my wrists were tied tightly, causing me to wince as the rope dug into my skin.
it was then that I realized that I was tied to a chair.
My vision was blurry, but as I blinked, my vision became clearer, and I finally recognized the person standing in front of me. April
She looked nothing like the April that I knew–her hair was a mess, her eyes were bloodshot. She looked like someone who had just escaped a psychiatric hospital.
“You’re awake,” she sneered, crossing her arms X
Panic surged through me, but I forced myself to stay calm. “What the hell is this. April?” My voice was rough, and I cleared my throat. April threw her head backwards and she laughed bitterly. “This? This is payback. Didn’t you see the messages I sent to you to wam you about it?”
I tried to move my wrists, but it was useless. It was tied too tightly
“You–You lured me here.” I said slowly, furrowing my eyebrows as I realized something. “You used Killian’s voice.” April smirked. “Oh yes, it’s impressive, isn’t it? Advanced voice recreation software. It’s quite expensive, but it’s effective.”
“I used it to lure you here, then a good friend knocked you unconscious. Do you know how hard it was to find someone y willing to work with me?” April ranted.
who was
I allowed her to continue ranting because it gave me more time. More time to do what? I didn’t know, but more time meant there was hope for Killian to find me before April did something bad to me.
“For some weird reason, none of them wanted to work with me the moment i told them who I wanted to kidnap. They kept saying “capo dei capo“. Isn’t that weird? Only one man finally agreed to work with me” She continued, looking at me like I needed to explain things to her.”
I glanced around, trying to find a means of escape, or something–anything that could help me
“Why? Why go this far?” I asked, trying to distract her, and buy more time, though i was curious.
April scowled, as she glared at me. She began pacing in front of me, and her hands shook. “Because of you. I lost everything.” she hissed. “I lost Killian, my husband, and now I’ve lost Richard, the little power I had left Richard–Richard is obsessed with you. He’s sitting in a goddamn prison cell, still thinking about how to win you back!”
Annoyance flickered within me for a moment at her words. Was she blaming me? For a moment I forgot that I was trying to distract and calm her down.
“You did this to yourself. April I said coldly. “You made those choices.”
April whipped around to face me, her eyes flared maniacally “I had to had to prove that I could take what I wanted. That I was better than you!”
I stared at her incredulously at her words “What?“.
“Our parents always loved you more,” she spat “You were always the favorite Always first Always the one they looked at with pride while I was just… there.” She sneered “I wanted to prove that I could win too
I stared at her, stunned. All this–her betrayal, her obsession with Richard–was because of some twisted competition that she had created in her own mind?
“You ruined your own life.” I said, clenching my jaw “Not me You made your choices. April. You chose to cheat on Killian You chose to betray me. And now, you’re blaming me for the consequences?”
April laughed bitterly again, clenching her fists. “You don’t get it, do you? You walk around like you’re so innocent, so perfect, but everything always falls into place for you Richard wanted you Killian chose you. Even after everything, you still come out on top
The anger I felt at her words overshadowed the fear in my chest
“That’s not my fault. Maybe if you had made better choices, you wouldn’t have lost everything
Her eyes darkened with rage, and before I could react, she lunged at me, and grabbed my face roughly
“Shut up, she hissed, and her nails dug into my skin, causing me to wince I’m not here to listen to your lectures”
Her eyes blazed in fury From the look in her eyes, I knew she was ready to go the extreme to get her revenge.
My heart raced in my chest. I needed to stall her
“What are you planning to do, April? You’re already wanted for taking part in killing my son for a liver transplant. Why are you trying to make things worse for yourself?” I asked, trying to sound calm ⠀
April snorted in amusement “I don’t care. I have nothing more to lose. But guess what?”
She smirked “I never needed a liver transplant. I paid the doctors to lie to Richard about it, then I started putting the idea of using Ethan Richard was easy to manipulate, and he did it without any hesitation ”
sank
A chill ran down my spine, and my mouth gaped open in horror as her words
“You.” My voice shook with rage and pain. “You lied? You let my son die for nothing?”
April shrugged, her smirk widening. “It wasn’t for nothing. I wanted to see how far Richard would go for me. Tums out, he would go all the way
I ejes toj JOU DJDWING
Her smirk faltered slightly, and her eyes darkened. “But you ruined it, and now he’s obsessed with yours
April’s wickedness was unbelievable. “How could you” Ethan did nothing wrong?” I shrieked as tears ran down my face. April shrugged nonchalantly. “Maybe”
I breathed heavily as mage coursed through me “And what now, April? What’s your endgame?”
She smiled coldly “Oh, I’m going to kill you”
