Chapter 4
An announcer repeatedly broadcast that the plane was about to take off.
I ignored Antonio’s messages, unfriended him, and turned off my phone.
From now on, Antonio and I would be strangers.
In the hospital.
Antonio kept sending me messages but failed every time.
Then, he began calling me repeatedly.
“The subscriber you dialed is not available.”
“The subscriber you dialed is not available.”
The same words came from the phone, but Antonio ignored them and dialed my number again and again.
“She can’t be doing this to me…
“Everything looked normal yesterday, and I told her I’d go to the city hall.”
He stared at his phone in a daze.
Minutes later, he ran out of the hospital and drove to the airport.
When he got into the flight attendant center, he grabbed my former manager’s hand and asked with anxiety, “Mr.
Andersen, doesn’t Grace have a flying task today? Why did she tell me she had quit and was going to Laxville? What’s going on?”
Tyrone Andersen looked at Antonio with a confused face. “Didn’t Grace tell you? After the celebration party the day before yesterday, she gave me a resignation letter. I asked her if you knew about it, and she said she would tell you at night.”
It hit Antonio like a bolt of lightning.
He remembered that he hadn’t gone home that night.
Last noon, he picked up the gift for Irene and just left.
And last night, he stayed just a few minutes, then left for Irene.
He had not given me any chances to talk with him about it over the past 2 days.
He had been with Irene.
Getting out of the flight attendant center, Antonio stayed in the airport for 3 hours.
He looked around, with our past flashing through his mind.
Eight years ago, we met at a security checkpoint.
It was my first flying task.
I was so excited that I didn’t sleep well last night. Feeling sleepy, I dropped my work ID badge on the ground when going through the security check.
Antonio picked it up for me, so I didn’t make a mistake.

Chapter 4
That was when we knew each other’s names.
Afterward, he would ask me to join him for late–night meals at the airport after flights.
Over time, he became my boyfriend.
We spent a lot of time together at the airport.
Soon, we were assigned to the same route, which should be what every couple working in the industry wanted.
We traveled around the world.
And every one of our colleagues envied us.
In the 5th year when we were together, we had a wedding at the airport.
Many colleagues thought that Irene’s appearance caused Antonio’s love for me to fade away.
But I knew that the direct cause wasn’t Irene, but Antonio himself.
When the night was falling, Antonio drove back home.
As usual, he hung his coat the first thing he got home. Meanwhile, he noticed the mark left by the photo frame.
He turned to the trash bin nearby.
