Two years later, Emma and I had a child.
It was an adorable little girl. Emma said her eyes and brows looked just like mine.
At our daughter’s first birthday party, I saw Celine.
She stood outside the hotel, silently watching me through the window. Her eyes looked forlorn. If you looked closely, you could see tears glistening on her face in the sunlight.
I ignored her and focused on greeting the guests.
Emma was worried I would get tired. She came to my side, took my hand and asked, “Are you tired? Do you want to go upstairs and rest for a bit? I can handle things here.”
I leaned on her shoulder. “No need. This is enough to recharge me.”
Emma laughed softly.
We held each other for a while, until Dad told Emma to go check on our daughter. Only then did I let go of Emma.
When I went upstairs, I realized there was no one by the window anymore.
I didn’t know when Celine had left, but it didn’t matter to me anymore.
Because I was truly happy now.
