Chapter 21%
Emma’s POV:
Jason’s grip on my wrist tightened, making me uncomfortable. Instinctively, I tried to pull away, but his hold only grew stronger.
“Let go! Jason, you’re hurting me!” I snapped
Only then did he realize his mistake. He quickly released my wrist, a flicker of panic in his eyes.
“Emma, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. I just… seeing you like this, hurts me,” he said, his voice trembling.
He reached out, his hand hovering near my face, but Chase immediately stepped in before he could touch me and pushed his hand away…
“Don’t touch her!” Chase’s voice was firm “What right do you have to touch her?”
Jason’s eyes reddened as if he had been deeply wronged. His voice caught in his throat. “Emma, is this really how you’re going to treat me? After everything we’ve been through, will you really throw away our seven years of relationship for this man?“!!
Seven years of relationship? How dare he even bring that up??
I sneered, “Seven years? That was just me fulfilling a wish for my brother, Maybe you should try understanding that”
I stepped closer, my voice cold and sharp. “You’re with Ava now, right? Why can’t I let Chase stay with me?”
Jason’s face twisted in disbelief. “Seven years of relationship? Jason, ask yourself. Have you ever treated me well in those seven years?” I continued my words like daggers. “When you were sleeping with Ava in our home, did you ever think about those seven years?”
His face went pale. His lips trembled, but no words came out. The look of pain and regret in his eyes felt hollow to me, like crocodile tears–so fake, so hypocritical
Chase gently wrapped his arm around my shoulders, offering quiet comfort. “Emma, don’t let him get to you. He’s not worth it”
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm of emotions inside me. He wasn’t worth it. Not anymore.
“Jason,” I said, my voice cold and final. “It’s over between us”
Just as I thought the confrontation was over Ava appeared in the doorway, dressed in a hospital gown, pale and weak.
She clung to the doorframe for support, and when she saw Chase and me standing together, she immediately understood what was going on.”
Her eyes widened, and she covered her mouth, acting like she was about to burst into tears
“Emma, you…are you really with another man?” she asked, her voice quivering. “Do you know how upset Jason is? He hasn’t been able to eat or sleep because of you.“!!
I stared at her, disgust flooding my senses.
What a performance…
They are a perfect pair. One cheats at home, and the other pretends to be a pitiful victim in the hospital.
“Critical condition notice? Ava, you’re really good at acting!” I mocked, my tone dripping with sarcasm. “If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were actually dying 7
I turned to Jason, ruthless in my delivery. “Too bad, though–your acting is so bad, you couldn’t fool me.”
Ava faltered, her eyes shifting nervously, avoiding mine. “Emma, what are you talking about? I don’t understand.” she stammered, her rds faltering.&
“Don’t understand?” I scoffed. “You think I don’t know? That critical condition notice? It was fake! You’re not even sick, you’re just pretending!”
Ava’s face turned ashen, and she swayed a little, clearly caught off guard. Jason rushed to her side, his expression darkening with
concern.
“Emma, watch your mouth! Ava’s health isn’t good…” he said, trying to intervene.
“Not good?” I interrupted, my voice cutting through his. “I think it’s her heart that’s not good!” I shot back. “Stealing someone’s man and then pretending to be pitiful? You two are really made for each other.”
Chase stepped forward, patting my shoulders. He then stood between me and the drama unfolding
He looked down at Jason and Ava. “If you two have nothing else to say, please leave. You’re not welcome here.”
