Chapter 6
After Zachary left, Blake sat alone in the silent house.
Each breath felt like a slow form of torture.
The jewelry made from leftover scraps became his final comfort, a symbol of his longing for me.
Blake placed his hand on the jewelry but pulled it away as though it had cut him with a sharp blade.
The diary, blown by the wind, made a soft rustling sound as its pages turned as if someone were reading it.
Before him, a blurry image appeared. I was standing in the study room, my face filled with despair, when I saw the diary.
When he had written in it, he had meant to remind himself not to forget his original intentions and to stay immersed in this love, this relationship he had carefully crafted.
“Caroline, why couldn’t I see it? In these thousands of days and nights, I’ve already fallen in love with you,” Blake murmured as he stared at the
diary.
Tears streamed uncontrollably down his face. He buried his head in his hands.
Regret. Sadness. He hated the Blake from back then, wishing he could kill that version of himself to make up for everything.
Blake’s men arrived at the airport, but the plane had already taken off.
No matter how capable they were, they couldn’t stop the plane.
As the plane ascended, I watched them become a small dot. When it pierced through the clouds, I could no longer see the city I had lived in for
so many years.
I thought, “Blake, goodbye. We’ll never meet again.”
I had already bought a house by the sea, and I was planning to open a flower shop.
I had told Blake about it countless times, but he was always too busy.
Now, Blake didn’t need to explain himself, and I could finally chase my dream.
Blake’s men only found the phone I had left behind at the airport.
In the villa, Zachary handed the phone to Blake.

“Blake, this is all we found.”
Blake took the phone and the broken SIM card.
He opened the phone and found a message I had sent him before I left.
[Blake, where are you? It hurts so much.]
[Why can’t I stand up? Are you back? It hurts so much.]
[Can you bring me a strawberry cake? It hurts. Maybe something sweet will help.]
[Blake, I really love you so much. I can’t bear all this pain with even a little less love.]
Blake scrolled through the messages one by one, his face expressionless, but tears streamed down uncontrollably.
In most of our conversations, I was always saying how much it hurt.
From the beginning until now, My body was always covered in new and old wounds.
There were assassins from enemies, his deliberate schemes that made me a target for Megan, And even when he manipulated things to fight for his interests, sending his men to hurt me.
All these dangers and tortures were his doing.
Back then, he had been so pleased with himself, thinking he could deceive me, a naive and innocent girl, with just a few sweet words.
“Search again. No matter where Caroline is, find her. I need to see her.”
Blake’s voice trembled.
He had made up his mind. Even if I was in his enemy’s territory, he didn’t care.
“Blake, what good will your tears do? Caroline isn’t coming back, Zachary couldn’t hold back and spoke.
“And when you meet her, what are you going to say? Ask her to come back and keep being Ms. Foster’s shield?
“Everything you did was for Ms. Foster. Now that Caroline’s gone, isn’t this the perfect chance for you to marry Ms. Foster?”
Blake slowly shook his head.
“Megan is about to marry. She has nothing to do with me. Caroline is my wife, was, and always will be.“”
“Blake, don’t you think you’re saying this a little too late?”
Zachary’s voice suddenly became hoarse, and his eyes turned red.
“I had someone check the divorce papers. It’s your signature, Caroline hasn’t been your wife for a long time. She didn’t know your plan, but now that she does, why are you still bothering her?
“Even if Caroline forgives you and comes back to live this life of knives and blood with you, will your conscience be at peace?”
