Chapter 7
Blake pressed his hand to his chest. He never cared about my feelings,
But now, those words were coming from his friend’s mouth.
Blake fell silent.
His mind slowly drifted back to the way we first met.
I was holding flowers telling him that I liked a quiet life three simple meals a day the everyday hum of life raising two or three cats living in

But ever since we got together, I never once had that kind of life.
“And what about Ms. Foster? What are you planning to do? If Caroline agrees to come back, how do you expect her to face Ms. Foster?
“Or do you want me to shut up too, fire me, and tell Caroline that after being your wife for all these years, she shouldn’t feel mistreated?”
Blake suddenly stood up, staring at Zachary. After a long moment, he finally uttered three words, “Go find her.”
Everyone left, and the room fell silent.
A sense of fear rose in Blake’s heart. He began drinking one bottle after another.
But the next moment, the haze cleared, and he was wide awake.
He scrolled through his phone endlessly. Those messages he had once hated were now precious beyond measure.
For the next several days, Blake only answered calls related to me, even hanging up on Megan’s calls.
Then, the phone rang.
Blake nearly jumped out of bed, grabbing my phone with urgency.
But when he finally looked at the screen, it was a message from Megan.
[Caroline, I underestimated you. You actually tricked Blake into going in circles with your disappearance.]
[But since you’re gone, make sure you stay hidden. Don’t blame me if I get ruthless when you show up.]
And right above those two taunting messages, was a message I sent to Megan: [Thank you.]
The timestamp was exactly when I left.
Blake immediately sensed something was wrong. He found Megan as quickly as he could.
She was delicate, almost throwing herself at him, but Blake stepped back coldly.
“What did you say to Caroline? Why did she thank you?”
Megan was startled by Blake’s coldness, but she quickly regained her composure and shook her head.
“What could I have said to Caroline? You don’t really think she left because of me, do you?”
Blake looked at her, disappointment in his eyes, before pulling out my phone.
The screen showed the taunting messages Megan had sent.
Blake’s men snatched Megan’s phone from her.
On her phone, Blake saw how she had arranged to meet me at a hotel, how she tricked Blake into signing documents, and her warning to me to disappear forever.
Now everything made sense.”
Blake looked at her with a gaze filled with murderous intent for the first time.
“No, Blake, didn’t you marry her to protect me? You should love me, not a substitute, not a target!”
Megan took a few steps back, frightened.
She tried to stir up Blake’s affections.
Blake suddenly stepped forward, grabbing Megan by the back of her neck. Their faces were inches apart. There was no affection, only fear.
<
“You’re right. From now on, I’ll love you properly.”
Blake said it hoarsely, ignoring Megan’s desperate pleas as he strode away.
The whole world knew that the woman Blake truly loved was Megan, and I was just an innocent target.
That day, Megan’s wedding was immediately called off by her fiancé’s family.
Those who had targeted Blake now shifted their focus to Megan.
Everything I had once endured was now playing out again, but this time, it was her turn.
