My mentor wanted to defend me, but I didn’t
want things to get dirty. I motioned for him to leave first, so as not to get into trouble. Dylan still maintained some rationality. He looked at me with a complicated expression. “Bella, why did you leave without saying goodbye? Why did you suddenly reject our bond? Why did you abandon us?”
The series of questions made my ears ache. I rubbed my temples, and my tone was sharp. “Dylan, what right do you have to question me? You, who rejected me and chose another as your mate?” Dylan’s face twisted in anguish, his eyes flashing with anger. “Bella, I was blinded. I didn’t realize what I had until it was too late. But I swear, I’ll do anything to make it right.”
Marcus, who had always been unruly, put down his noble face. He lowered his head slightly, “Bella, we were wrong last time, but you don’t have to be so heartless. Do you know how long we’ve been searching for you…?”
The two told me that after I left, they were almost crazy with anxiety. In the end, there was really no way, so they could only kneel in front of my grandmother and ask for forgiveness. My grandmother was kind–hearted and had watched them grow up since they were young, so she couldn’t bear to see them like this and told them my location.
I told them my choice. I didn’t choose any of them. I chose a brand new life, free from the pack’s politics and drama. I took out a small device from my pocket and played back a recording of their conversation with Ember, revealing their plan of making a fool of me. Then I looked at the two people in front of me expressionlessly. “Stop pretending, the game is over. If you like Ember, go after her. Don’t use my life as a tool to please her. I have my own life to live, and I hope you won’t bother me again.”
After these words came out, the two people who were originally aggressive turned pale. After being speechless for a long time, no one could say a word. Only the recording device was silent, its message delivered. Dylan wanted to grab the device again, but I took a step back and looked at him coldly. “You are standing in the Golden Wolves Institute, and I have the support of the elder council. Don’t think about destroying the evidence, and don’t think about… threatening me with my grandmother again.”

“Bella,” Dylan whispered in a hoarse voice, “We were just trying to scare you that day. We wouldn’t have done anything to Grandma. She is equally important to us as you.”
“Yes, don’t you remember we were the ones who dropped you at the hospital when no one was helping you?” Marcus added,
“I remember it,” I said in a stern voice, “That is why I’m still talking to you in a decent manner. But, it will be the time when I’m seeing you two. Don’t expect anything more from me.”
I still had a long way to go in the future, and I didn’t have the time or energy to get entangled with wolves who were not worth it. The two wanted to say something, but my mentor, Hades, stepped forward to stop them. “Enough, you’ve caused enough trouble. Leave now and do not affect our institute’s normal life.”
They were unwilling, but they had to leave. After walking a distance, Dylan suddenly turned around and looked at me. “Bella, we grew up together in the pack. I don’t believe you can be so cruel and not care about our past bond at all.”
“We did do some wrong things, but we will show our sincerity to prove that our hearts for you have never changed.” Marcus nodded repeatedly.
Now I just felt ridiculous when I heard these words. In the past and present lives, their words had not changed at all. They did the same thing back then, using our bond to deceive me. I didn’t understand, since they all fell in love with Ember. Why did they run to me now and pretend to love me deeply? I didn’t know if what they said came from the heart. Or they continued to deceive me for Ember. I only knew that my future life had nothing to do with them. I didn’t want to see these two wolves again. But I still underestimated their persistence. In the following period of time, the institute was filled with several gifts. Hade’s couldn’t help but sigh,
“Bella, are they trying to win you back? They are so generous.”

“What’s there to envy? Who would care about these things if they choose to take this path?” Yes, I was no longer the little she–wolf who would be moved by a piece of meat and a love word.
