Chapter 10
I woke up, surrounded by darkness, images appeared all around.
“You have 12 hours left, then you’ll fully enter death or rebirth.” It was the Doctor’s voice.
“Julia!” I watched as Jack and Lily entered the villa, frantically searching.
“Jack, Julia must be sulking and hiding, no need to rush,” Lily said.
“It’s all your fault!” Jack slapped Lily across the face.
“The child!”
Lily was sent to the hospital, the child was saved.
“For that woman, you don’t even want your own child, are you crazy?” Jack’s mother yelled.
“Julia is missing, Mom.”
“Serves you right, should’ve left last time we talked.”
“Mom, what do you mean! Last time you went to see Julia?”
“I… I told her to leave, if she didn’t, I’d say a few things.” Jack’s mom’s voice grew softer, scared by Jack.
“Julia didn’t insult you, right?” Jack’s voice shook with anger.
“No…”
Jack suddenly thought of something, hurriedly ran out of the hospital, got in the car.
He knocked on the door of the Anderson family.
“Where’s Julia?”
Bob hadn’t spoken when Jack barged in, looking for someone.
10:12 PM
“Where’s Julia?”
Bob hadn’t spoken when Jack barged in, looking for someone.
“What are you doing! Jack, isn’t Julia with you?”
Bob leisurely watched Jack’s panicked face.
“She’s gone.”
Rose’s words blocked Jack’s..
“What are you saying? Did you hide Julia?”
Jack tried to grab Rose, but Bob punched him away, blood dripping from his mouth.
I watched and touched my heart, finally, there’s no more heartbeat.
“Julia went through euthanasia, she’s already dead!” Rose cried out.
“What are you doing? Jack, isn’t Julia with you?” Bob watched Jack with a dismissive gaze as Jack was in a frenzied state. “She’s not here anymore.” Rose’s words stopped Jack in his tracks. “What do you mean? Did you hide Julia?” Jack lunged at Rose, but Bob intervened with a punch, causing blood to trickle from Jack’s mouth. I observed, placing a hand over my heart, yet felt no emotion stir within me.
“Julia chose euthanasia. She’s gone!” Rose wailed. Tears filled my eyes too. I longed to console her, much like she was trying to console herself. “Why? Euthanasia? Why, Julia?” Jack cried out, his voice hollow. “While you and Lily were consumed with your child, Julia’s spirit slowly faded,” Rose explained, showing Jack a video. It was of me burning photographs and crying. “I wanted to be there for Julia, to support her, but your presence drove her into despair!” “No, it can’t be true!” Jack murmured, tears streaming down his face. “Julia knew about your child with Lily before your birthday. She watched as you deceived her.“”
“I don’t love Lily. I only want Julia,” Jack insisted repeatedly. “Jack, your mother belittled Julia for being an orphan, insulted her openly. Lily, your child’s mother, repeatedly provoked Julia. And you, you treated Julia like a loyal dog, always trailing behind you.” Jack tried to defend himself. Rose continued, “Ask your friends what they see Lily as–your future sister–in–law, right? When your friends called Julia a ‘simp, you did nothing, you allowed it. You don’t deserve Julia’s love.”
“The space capsule will dissolve in 12 hours.” So, it was 30 minutes. At last, goodbye. My body began to dissolve gradually… Bob held his sister gently, his eyes conflicted as he glanced at a bouquet of baby’s breath on the table.
