Chapter 12
I said, “Listen up, you old hag. You and your precious son are both a total mess now. You’d better start treating me with some respect, or else…”
Iris puffed herself up and shot back,
“What are you going to do? Let me remind you, mistreating the elderly is a crime!”
I smirked, “A crime? Who’s going to back that up? Laws? Please. When you smothered my daughter, did you care about the law?”
Her eyes widened in shock. “You… you know? So this is revenge? How dare you! It’s just a bit of cash, and now you‘ re whining about how I’m spending it on a caregiver. That money was supposed to line. my pockets! How dare she use it!”
I didn’t have the patience for her thieving excuses. People like her never see their
own wrongs.

I slapped her a few times until she was seeing stars.
The smell of urine filled the room. Pathetic -at her age, still wetting herself.
I made myself a big meal and, since Alan was behaving somewhat, I gave him a bowl. of vegetables. As for the old witch, I tossed. a piece of bread on the floor.
Of course, this earned me more of her ranting.
“Eat it or don‘ t.”
It was just one piece of bread for the whole. day.
Alan had gone silent. I knew he was
waiting, enduring the humiliation until his legs were better and he could get his
revenge.
Alan, desperate to get his money back, swiped Iris‘ s bank card and forced her to give him the password. He thought if he had the cash, he could hire a caregiver and

break free from my control.
In front of him, I popped Iris‘ s SIM card into my phone, used the password Alan had given me to log into her online
banking, and moved every penny from her account to my new card. I made sure it was
accurate to the last cent.
It felt great to see the money I’d earned finally back where it belonged.
Alan’s eyes were practically on fire.
I showed him the balance in Iris‘ s
account. His eyes nearly bulged out of his
head.
According to Alan, he’d given Iris at least £120,000, not counting what she took from me. But now, her account had only £80,000 left.
That meant Iris had spent at least £40,000.
Considering the medical bills and living expenses, she‘ d clearly drained tens of thousands on that old geezer.

I transferred £40,000 into my own account.
Iris had no job and no retirement savings; all the money was Alan‘ s, which means half of it was mine.
Having taken what was rightfully mine, I
slapped the divorce papers down in front of
Alan.
He looked at them and immediately flipped
out.
“Katrina, you‘ re so greedy! I’m not signing those!”
