Jared regained consciousness in the hospital a week later
His face, hands, and legs were wrapped in thick bandages.
Throughout that week, he had been rushed into the emergency
by room countless times, hovering between life and death. Miraculously. he had survived.
The accident on the highway that day had nearly claimed his life–he had come dangerously close to the gates of hell.
And yet, the very first word that left his lips when he woke up was:
“Came
The bodyguards exchanged uneasy glances, hesitant to speak.

His mother’s expression darkened. In a cold, measured tone, she said, “You nearly died, and yet the first thing on nonsense. Focus on recovering.
Kann, who had been sitting beside the bed, burst into tears. Clutching his hand, she sobbed, “Brother Jared, you scared me to death! You were in a coma for seven days and seven nights, and i’ve been worrying about you all this time”
But to her shock, Jared yanked his hand away from her grasp.
With great effort, he tried to sit up. “I need to find Carrie.”
Karin’s sobs grew louder, almost hysterical. “Why?! I’ve been by your side day and night! We’re getting married soon–the invitations have already been sent out! How can you still think about that woman? Didn’t you say she was just my substitute?”
“She’s not a substitute, Jared snapped, his voice laced with fury. “She is the woman I love!”
His outburst aggravated his wounds, sending sharp pain through his body. Clutching the railing of the bed, he coughed violently, blood spilling from his lips.
Doctors rushed in, but he weakly waved them away.
“I’m not dead yet, he muttered, pushing them back. “Get out of my way. I have to find her
Karin stomped her foot, tears streaming down her face. “Didn’t you say you only loved me? She set me up, she still choose her?! Then what am I to you?“!
Jared’s mother scoffed, her voice dripping with disdain. “Karin, you’ve played the innocent victim long enough.” She pulled out her phone and pressed play.

A voice recording filled the room–the unmistakable sound of Karin and a group of women conspiring to drug Carrie that night. Jared’s mother had found the recording in the house Carrie had left behind.
Came had secretly recorded everything that night–the entire plot against her.
She could have used it back then, handed it to Jared to prove her innocence, to avoid being locked up in that dark, suffocating room.\ But she hadn’t.
