The baby in Camie’s belly was saved, and she drifted into a quiet sleep X
Jared stood outside the door, unable to summon the courage to step inside.
Art met him at the threshold. “The child is mine. We’re happy together.” His voice was calm but firm. “Please, let Carrie go. If you insist on tearing our family apart, then we’ll have no choice but to face death together,”
He knew Jared’s power was beyond anything he or Carrie could fight against. But no matter what, he would never let Jared hurt her. He would protect her, no matter the cost.
Jared let out a bitter laugh
He had no right to argue. Art was Carrie’s boyfriend–her future husband.
And he? He was just a stranger she refused to acknowledge.
“I only want to take care of her… to see her recover, Jared murmured.]
Art cut him off. “You don’t need to worry about that. I’ll take good care of Corrie, She’ll never get hurt as long as you stay away”
Jared fell silent, standing motionless at the door. He couldn’t bring himself to leave.}
Inside the ward, Carrie finally woke up, her face lighting up with a soft smile as Art tended to her.
But the moment Jared stepped inside, that smile vanished.
Only at night, when the world was asleep, did he dare sneak into the room, sitting by her bedside, watching her sleep.
He spoke to her, whispered words meant only for her ears, but she never responded.
Then came the night everything changed.X
Art had gone out to buy plums for Carrie.
Karin, disguised as a nurse, slipped into the ward. Her eyes burned with madness, her hatred a towering mountain built from years of
torment.
Jared’s mother had discarded her like trash, and Jared himself had abandoned her. She had nothing left.
Now, she had come to settle the score.
She gripped the dagger tightly, her face twisted with rage. “Carrie, you ruined my life! If it weren’t for you, I would have married Jared long ago
*You were just a substitute! So why did you steal his love from me?! I hate you! I want you dead! And your child–your child doesn’t deserve to live either!”
Carrie had nowhere to run. The cold glint of the blade come closer)
Just as she braced for the sharp agony of steel piercing her flesh–8
Jared’s body blocked the blow!
The dagger sank into his chest, stright through his heart. Blood poured like a river!! Karin wasn’t satisfied. Before the bodyguards could reach her, she shoved him aside. Jared’s body hit the iron railing–then fell
A sickening thud echoed through the room as he crashed onto the floor, motionless. The bodyguards seized Karin, dragging her away, but Carrie barely registered it! She stared at Jared, frozen in shock.
He was lying there–covered in blood.
“Jared, get up! Get up!” Her voice was hoarse, desperate
He couldn’t die. Not like this. Not for her
“Someone get a doctor! Call a doctor now!!
Art rushed in, his breath hitching at the scene before him.!!
He ran to Carrie, pulling her into his arms. “Carrie, don’t be afraid. I’m here–I’m so sorry I was late.”
She clutched his shirt, her entire body trembling. “Art… Jared took that knife for me. He’ll be okay, right? If he dies because of me, I’ll never forgive myself. I won’t be able to live with it-
Her voice broke, her lips trembling violently.
Art held her tighter, trying to steady her. “He’ll be fine. He has to be. Carrie, this isn’t your fault. You’re a victim too.
Carrie buried her face in his chest, trying to suppress the storm inside her?
