Chapter 5
As if to cover up my departure, my family started preparing for Noella’s birthday party early on.
The house was adorned with various decorations and Lilliana carefully selected her daughter’s birthday dress.
Except for my tightly locked room, everything seemed particularly joyful.
Especially Noella.
I could see that the smile on her face was genuine and unreserved.
She really wanted me to leave.
This family of three never mentioned me at all.
On the day of the birthday party, Noella wore a beautiful dress, held her father’s hand and walked into the venue with her head held high like a proud
white swan.
The audience was the relatives and friends of the family and everyone was beaming with joy.
The ten–layer cake was pushed onto the stage and Noella smiled. appropriately.
Lilliana and Jacob stood behind her, looking at her with tenderness and pride. They could not hide their affection for her.
“No matter how old you are, you are always a child in our hearts.”
“Mom and Dad will always be your support system.”
The sounds of joy and confetti could be heard. She looked like a beautiful princess, but compared me, the invisible ghost, look even more tragic.
I sat aside, coldly watching her happiness. What should I say?
I was so envious.
The overflow of love she had was something I could only dream of.
I did not know if it was because of my presence, but when Jacob lit the candles, the flames kept going out.
Later, Jacob was gloomy and serious and Lilliana was pale, when an uninformed guest suddenly asked a question.

The atmosphere at the venue suddenly became awkward and Jacob.
pretended to be calm.
“Madeline has been busy with her studies abroad lately, that’s why she had to miss her sister’s party.”
Noella seemed to unconsciously take over the conversation.
“Madeline must have her reasons for not coming to my birthday party, but it’s okay. I can’t force her.”
She always had the ability to make my situation awkward with just a few words.
Actually, I was here.
“Don’t mention those unimportant things. The important thing is to celebrate your birthday happily.”
Jacob tried several more times and finally the candle was lit.
Noella closed her eyes and made a wish. All the lights in the venue were turned off and the flames of joy were only reflected on her face.
She was so proud and happy.
I took a deep breath and drifted towards the flame. The candle went out, and in an instant, the whole room went dark.

Noella widened her eyes. I hugged her from behind and a cold wind blew up from the ground. She finally felt a little uneasy.
“What… what’s going on?”
Jacob’s and Lilliana’s faces also looked particularly unhappy and this segment was hurriedly passed over. Until the end of the party, Noella seemed to be heavy–hearted.
“Father, Mother, is Madeline still angry with me that she won’t let me go. even if she dies?”
On the car ride home, my parents were unusually silent.
Seeing that no one paid any attention to her, Noella pouted and cried out. “I was the one who harmed Madeline, but she’s already died. Why does she still come to disturb me? Mom, Dad, you have to help me. You know I’m the most frightened.”
I whispered something behind her ear.
“Why would you want to harm others if you are afraid of ghosts?”

She tied my hands and feet using specially prepared transparent thin
thread, which was invisible from a distance.
Going to all the trouble of setting me up, coming straight for my life, she clearly had it coming..
She knew I would die.
I leaned straight in front of her, stared at her terrified eyes and continued to speak. “Why do I have to die?”
Noella shuddered violently, her eyes seemed to be focused on something and suddenly she screamed.
“There’s a ghost!”
This scream had an impact on Jacob. He was already a little out of his mind and was stimulated by the sudden scream. He turned the steering wheel by mistake and hit the car next to him.
Jacob, who usually had a good temper, spoke in a rare harsh tone.
“Enough Noella! Can you stop messing around? Madeline is gone, how much more trouble do you have to cause? Do you think I don’t understand your petty thoughts?”
What!
So, he did understand?
Noella widened her eyes and ignored her father’s reprimand, her tone still anxious and panicked.
“I heard it, I really heard it, it was Madeline! She wants to hurt me. She wants to hurt me!”
Lilliana, who had been restless the whole night, was stunned at this
moment.
She opened her mouth dully and asked, “Is Madeline here?”
I continued to lean close to her ear, speaking in a faint voice.
“You killed me, I won’t let you go.”
Noella continued to scream, covering her ears and curling up into a ball.
“You died on your own. I didn’t hurt you. Don’t come looking for me. It has nothing to do with me!”
I circled around her and roared with all my strength through her fingers.

“You tied up my hands and feet so that I could only drown alive in the water. How can it have nothing to do with you?”
Noella had already let out a cold sweat.
“I tied you up because you were too noisy. It’s all your fault… it’s all your fault!”
As soon as her words fell, Lilliana and Jacob’s gazes were both a bit
strange.
Lilliana’s body could not stop shaking and Jacob’s hands, which were holding the steering wheel, were also covered with blue veins.
“Noella, what did you say just now? Who did you tie up?” Lilliana’s voice was choked up and her eyes were filled with disbelief as she looked at Noella.
But Noella did not realize her slip of the tongue. The extreme panic and frightened made her lose her mind.
“Don’t come to me, don’t come to me, please, don’t come over.”
When the traffic police arrived at the scene to handle the accident, the three of them each had their own worries.
Noella hugged her mother’s arm with a pitiful look on her face.
Until it was already late at night, the three people who had dealt with. everything returned home. Jacob looked tired, but he did not say anything. He just went into the bathroom in silence.
Lilliana, sitting on the sofa, walked towards the locked room with a dull look in her eyes.
That was my room.
