Chapter 5
I didn’t leave but was sitting in the car across the road.

I watched as they came out hand in hand and got into Herbert’s car, saying to the driver, “Wayne, follow them.”

Herbert’s car circled around and eventually pulled up at the entrance of a luxurious villa,
yet no one came out immediately.
Moments later, the car began to rock.
I clenched my fists so hard that my fingernails dug deep into my palms, but I felt no pain.
Observing this, Wayne sighed. “Ms. Brown, I’ve watched you grow up. Please pardon me
for being blunt, but a man like him isn’t worthy of your love.”
I remained silent.
Herbert got out of the car, then made his way to the passenger side and carried Stella
towards the villa with a smile.
Stella’s dress was in tatters, and she used Herbert’s suit jacket to cover her upper body.
Suppressing my sorrow, I turned on my phone.
Stella had just sent me a recording. In it, Herbert’s husky, deep voice could be heard. “Since your mouth down there isn’t doing its job, let’s use the one up here.”
Throughout our years of marriage, Herbert had never displayed such a domineering and possessive side to me.
I put my phone aside and gazed out the window, murmuring, “Wayne, I’ll give you a
generous sum of money. After I leave, you should leave as well.”
Upon reaching home, I grabbed a baseball bat and, as if to release my pent–up fury,
smashed everything in the 2,152–square–foot house.

Our wedding photos, the various luxury items Herbert had bought for me, the handmade ceramics we’d crafted together, and all the traces of our love became ruins.
After taking inventory of all the property, I went downstairs, got into the car, and headed
for the airport.
From that point on, no matter where in the world I went, Herbert would never be able to
track me down.
On the way to the airport, I received a message from Herbert: [Honey, there’s an urgent matter at the company today. I won’t be coming home tonight. Go to bed early. Love you.]
I didn’t respond. Instead, I took out the phone card and threw it out of the car window.
On the high–rise buildings in the city behind me, thousands of drones formed Stella’s face and name, creating a grand confession display.
This scene was captured in photos and posted online, quickly becoming a trending topic.
In the comment section, people were speculating which CEO was making this proposal.
I quietly watched the scenery outside the window whiz by.
It was as if the ten years I’d spent with Herbert, which had no proper conclusion, were rapidly slipping away.
There was no one waiting for me in the rear. My original dream had been to travel the world with the money my father had left me.
But later, Herbert became the reason I stayed
In this city, nothing but love could have made me reluctant to leave.
Now that the love was gone, the shackles binding me were gone, too.
All those showy departures were merely tests. When someone truly decided to leave, there wouldn’t even be a goodbye.
I whispered, “Herbert, I hope we never meet again.”

I boarded the plane, and my heart finally found complete peace.
I hoped they would appreciate the “gift” I had prepared for them.
