Chapter 8
Simon’s new signature on his social
media was a clear declaration:
[In this life, I love only Bianca.]
He had changed everything, from his profile to his posts, practically broadcasting it to everyone in our social circle. To anyone paying attention, it was glaringly obvious. But honestly, I couldn’t even muster the energy to care about it anymore.
In my past life, no matter how much I begged and pleaded, Simon never once showed any sign of affection for me.
And now, after losing me, he suddenly regrets it and tries to make amends?
His love–if it could even be called that- was cheap and worthless.
I’d moved on, and his attempts to turn back time felt like a pathetic afterthought.

That afternoon, I was enjoying a quiet lunch in the company cafeteria with my team when Audrey stormed in.
Her eyes were red with anger, and before I could react, she was right in front of me, finger in my face, yelling at the top of her lungs.
“Bianca!” she spat. “What the hell did you do to Simon? Why is he suddenly so obsessed with you again? He even said he’s breaking off his engagement with me!”
She paused for a moment, her voice trembling with something far more venomous. “Why? Why is it that in this life, I can’t compare to you? You should just die! Go ahead and die!”
Before I could even process her words, she grabbed a bowl of hot soup from a nearby table and raised it as if to throw it at me.
But before she could, a familiar figure stepped in front of me. Simon.

He pulled me behind him with a protective. gesture, his expression cold. Without warning, he swung a punch, knocking the bowl away. But in doing so, the soup splashed across his chest.
His face darkened, but he was more concerned about me. After making sure I wasn’t hurt, he spun around to face Audrey, fury in his eyes.
“How dare you act out in front of Bianca!” he thundered. “You think you can hurt her? Are you out of your mind?”
In a moment of unrestrained anger, Simon shoved Audrey aside.
She stumbled and fell hard to the floor. Before anyone could react, a dark pool of
blood began to spread beneath her, soaking into the tiles.
The cafeteria went deathly silent. People gasped, eyes wide with shock.
“Oh my God… look at the amount of blood… She’s not… is she miscarrying?”

Audrey’s eyes went wide with terror, and she started to wail, her hand clutching her abdomen.
“You!” she shrieked, pointing at Simon. “You killed our baby!”
Simon froze, a flash of panic crossing his face. But instead of comforting her, he turned to me, desperation in his voice as he tried to explain.
“It’s not like that, Bianca!” Simon‘ st voice grew more frantic, his desperation unmistakable. “You saw it too–there were condoms in the passenger seat! She couldn’t have gotten pregnant by me!”
His words rushed out in a panicked torrent, but my mind was already reeling.
“She’s just some woman who can’t control herself! She probably slept with someone else and ended up pregnant. The baby’s not mine!”
I felt a wave of disbelief wash over me, as cold and sharp as ice.

Without thinking, I yanked my arm out of his grasp, my voice trembling–not with fear, but with anger and frustration.
“Just because you used protection, you think that somehow absolves you?” I scoffed, the disdain evident in my voice. “Simon, don’t even think about disgusting me any more than you already have.”
His face paled, the color draining from his features, but I couldn’t bring myself to
care.
“I’ll pay for her medical bills, but that’s the only thing I’ll do,” I said, my tone final, cold. “As for everything else, don‘ t bother. I’m done hearing your excuses.”
I turned away, not waiting for him to respond. There was nothing left to say.
I walked toward the exit, but Simon tried to chase me. His hand reached out, but before he could touch me, Audrey, still on the floor, grabbed him desperately. Her grip on him was unrelenting as if she were clinging

to the last shred of hope she had.
Later, Audrey hit rock bottom.
The miscarriage–whether real or not–had completely shattered her reputation. Realizing that her reputation had already been ruined by the incident, she went all- in, trying to salvage whatever she could by clinging to the Hughes family.
She spread rumors around the city, claiming that she was still pregnant with Simon‘ s child and that they were already planning to get married.
Upon hearing the rumors, the Hughes family wasted no time summoning Simon for a reprimand. The family’s law was strict, and they made it clear that hist behavior had crossed a line. Simon had been punished before, but this time, the consequences were far harsher.
After privately disciplining Simon with his family, his back bore dozens of new welts, which was a brutal reminder of the price

for his indiscretions.
Meanwhile, the Hughes family chose to remain silent about the rumors Audrey had spread. As for Audrey, her reputation. among high society was irreparably damaged. She and her mother–whose own scandalous past had resurfaced in the wake of her daughter’s actions–were effectively exiled from the upper echelons of the elites. They were no longer welcome in the circles they once frequented.
On my end, Daniel could see that I was troubled by the commotion surrounding the drama between Simon and Audrey. He could sense my discomfort and my frustration, and to help clear my mind, he made a point to carve out time for us. He showed me new places, took me on small adventures, and did everything in his power to help me relax.
He was always so considerate, always
checking in, worried that I might be upset.
by the mess that surrounded us.

But in those moments, I just lowered my gaze and leaned into his embrace, feeling the steady warmth of his arms around me.
“It’s not that I’m upset,” I said softly, my voice barely a whisper, “I just think it’s such a shame… that I wasted so much time loving something so… worthless.”
