Chapter 55

The Descent into Danger

The plane sliced through the night sky, Madrid’s glittering lights coming into view below. The tension in the cabin was thick—everyone knew this landing wasn’t going to be simple.

Amira’s fingers hovered over the controls, her expression unreadable. “This is the part where things get tricky.”

Richard exhaled sharply. “As if they weren’t tricky already.”

Naomi checked her weapon. “What are we dealing with?”

Jordan’s voice crackled in Elena’s earpiece. “Vincent’s men haven’t figured out your diversion yet, but it’s only a matter of time. I have an extraction team on standby, but they need an exact location.”

Elena nodded, thinking fast. They couldn’t risk a public landing.

She turned to Amira. “How close can you get without being detected?”

Amira smirked. “You doubt me?”

Naomi crossed her arms. “Not doubting. Just hoping you don’t kill us.”

Amira’s hands moved swiftly over the dashboard. “There’s a private strip about ten miles outside the city. Not exactly legal, but it’ll keep us off the radar.”

Richard frowned. “And what happens when we land?”

Elena’s jaw tightened. They had minutes to figure that out.

Jordan’s voice came back. “You’ll be met by a black SUV. The driver’s name is Mateo. He’s ex-military—trust him.”

Naomi muttered, “I hate trusting people I haven’t met.”

Elena didn’t disagree. But at this point, they had no choice.

Amira pulled the plane lower, the lights of Madrid now larger, closer. The descent was faster than usual—dangerously fast.

Richard gripped the seat. “Are we—”

BANG.

The left wing shuddered violently. Alarms blared.

Amira cursed, struggling with the controls. “They found us.”

Naomi’s eyes widened. “Already?”

Jordan’s voice was urgent. “Vincent’s team has a tracker on you. They must have activated it remotely.”

Elena clenched her fists. They had a traitor on board.

But there was no time to figure out who. The plane was losing altitude too fast.

Amira’s voice was sharp. “Brace yourselves. We’re not landing—we’re crashing.”

The plane tilted at a sharp angle, the ground rushing toward them. Naomi tightened her seatbelt, Richard muttered a prayer, and Elena’s fingers curled around the armrest.

The only thing they could do now was survive the impact.
