Chapter 107
Alex came down from the second floor with a gloomy face.
Nancy said, “Why aren’t you sleeping in the middle of the night, wandering around like a ghost?”
Alex glanced at the living room entrance. “It’s the middle of the night and someone is missing from the house. Can you sleep well?”
Nancy looked at Evan. Is someone missing from the house?”
Evan said, “Ms. Thompson hasn’t returned yet.”
Nancy immediately relaxed. “Oh, it’s okay. Ellie went to sing at a bar tonight. She called me and said she’s having a late–night snack with her senior, and he’ll bring her back later
Alex felt a tightness in his chest. “Morn, how could you let her go out on a date with a guy at her age?”
Nancy said, “Mark is really reliable. I trust that Ellie is safe with him.
“Honey, maybe I’ll try another day to see how Mrs. Grant feels about Mark being married with Ellie. They all study medicine, so they should have a lot in common. It’s often better for a man to be a bit older, they know how to care for others.
As Nancy spoke, she pulled her husband towards the bedroom.
Todd glanced back at his son. “You never know, some jerks get better at tricking people as they get older!”
Alex was speechless and took a deep breath right there.
Ellie got back home close to 2 AM. The whole family was asleep except for Evan and two staff members on duty on the first floor.
Ellie changed her shoes, trying not to make any noise as she walked upstairs, messaging Mark as she went.
Ellie opened her bedroom door and hadn’t even turned on the light when the whole room lit up instantly.
“What are you doing in my room?” Ellie gasped when she saw Alex in her room, his face gloomy and wearing pajamas.
“Where did you go in the middle of the night?” Alex shut the door and looked down at Ellie, towering over her.
Ellie furrowed her brow. “I need to rest. Please leave
“What did you promise him?” Alex asked, moving toward Ellie.
Ellie clearly felt the hostility emanating from Alex and instinctively stepped back. “I don’t understand what you’re saying
Alex grabbed Ellie’s shoulder and pushed her into the bedroom without a word.
With a loud sound, he kicked the bedroom door shut.
He cornered Ellie against the wall, speaking with restraint, “Be honest! Are you dating Mark?”

Chapter 107
Ellie finally snapped out of her daze. Meeting Alex’s gaze, Ellie replied firmly. “Who I date is none of your business.”
Alex tightened his grip on Ellie’s shoulder, almost growling. “As long as you live here, it’s my concern!”
Ellie pouted, realizing he was right. “You’re my brother, so I guess you do have the right to interfere.
Alex gritted his teeth and lost his words for a while.
Ellie could see Alex’s face growing even paler. She hesitated, wondering if she should provoke him a bit more, just to make
him faint.
“Ellie, if you dare shout again, I’ll drop you, I swear! Before Ellie could react. Alex lifted her above his head.
Ellie was so frightened she almost screamed. Ellie panicked and lurted out, “If your wife finds out about this, I won’t be able to explain!”
“Damn it!” Alex was furious at Ellie’s remark. He turned and threw Ellie onto the big bed nearby. Then he quickly followed
her.
Alex knelt with his knees on either side of Ellie’s legs, pinning her legs down with his calves, and held her wrists above her head with one hand.
Even though Alex only used his calves to pin her legs and held her wrists above her head with one hand, without any other physical contact, Ellie still felt embarrassed.
In the middle of the night, she didn’t dare to make much noise and disturb the people downstairs.
After the welcome home party last time, Nancy had subtly asked her twice if she had any feelings for Alex.
If Nancy saw Alex on her bed in the middle of the night in such a suggestive position, she wouldn’t be able to explain it no matter how hard she tried.
She struggled to get up but was too scared to move when Alex give her a fierce look
Facing Alex’s fierce gaze, Ellie didn’t dare to make a sound.
Alex glared down at Ellie, his expression intense, and demanded. I’m asking you, and you better give me an honest answer. Don’t even think about trying to fool me, or else I–1”
Alex searched for a long time but couldn’t find what he was looking for, so he changed his threat. “You’re in big trouble!”
Ellie had no choice but to nod obediently.
Alex asked, “Is Mike asking you out?” Ellie shook her head.
The hostility on Alex’s face faded a bit, and his tone softened. “Those guys around Mike are all trouble. Stay away from them, okay?”
Ellie nodded obediently on the outside, but inside, she was too drained to even roll her eyes.
Honestly, if anyone was being weird, it was the guy right in front of her.
Sometimes, she even thought about suggesting he see a therapist
Seeing how unusually compliant Ellie was acting, Alex’s gaze softened without him realizing it.

Chapter 107
Thinking of how Ellie used to be all shy and demure around him, Alex spoke again, his voice now soft. “Ellie, just behave. I won’t ask you anything you don’t want to answer, and I promise those things won’t happen again”
Alex said. “I’ll give you an extra card. It doesn’t matter if you make money or not, but you’re not allowed to work a side job or hang out with random people, understand?”
Ellie lowered her gaze, hiding the emotions in her eyes. Alex’s blatant possessiveness; she couldn’t pretend not to feel it, or she’d be lying to herself.
The person he loved was Haley. The reason he acted this way towards her was that he knew she’d secretly liked him for seven years. It’s just a case of typical male behavior causing trouble.
Whether she was obedient or not, she would always end up being bullied.
He loved Haley so much that his heart naturally leaned towards her.
Without realizing it, he’d give all his love and kindness to Haley, continually pushing his own limits for the woman he cherished.
Actually, he wasn’t wrong at all.
From the start, he had been someone who passionately stood up for those he cared about, never bothering with reason, and always very bold–everyone who knew him was aware of this.
He was always like this; he had never changed.
It was just that the person he used to stand up for was her, and now it’s Haley.
Just then, the sudden ringing of a phone interrupted them. Alex let go of Ellie and turned over to grab his phone from the
nightstand
Seeing the caller ID, Alex instinctively looked at Ellie before answering the call.
Haley said through the phone, “Alex, you finally picked up! Ethan’s in trouble–the case has been handed over to the prosecutor’s office, and Aaron’s handling it.
“I broke up with Aaron for you back then. He resents me, and I’m really scared he’ll use my brother’s case to get revenge on me. Can you help me, please?”
On the phone, Haley’s panicked voice was perfectly clear to Ellie
“Stop crying, and just stay there and wait for me; I’ll be right over Hearing the concern and urgency in Alex’s voice, Ellie closed the bathroom door and locked it
Alex ended the call and turned to look at the tightly closed bathroom door, his expression was filled with uncertainty
After a brief moment of hesitation, Alex turned around and left Ellie’s room.
