The ride–share car slowly pulled up in a

Opening the car door, she got in, casually slipping off her suit jacket.
Alex clenched his phone tightly, staring intently at the jacket Ellie had thrown aside, feeling like he could barely breathe from the weight in his chest.
After a while, he bent dowen, picked up the jacket, and walked in the other direction.
Late at night at the Owens residence.
Evelyn said. “We’ve been waiting at the hospital for so long and Alex still hasn’t come. What’s his deal!”
Evelyn was pacing restlessly in the living room. You’re engaged to him yet he won’t help us out. You’re not even broken up, and he left you at the hospital and just walked away–does that make sense?
With a troubled look. Haley stood in the living room and hande the necklace to Evelyn. “Mom, just let it go. Keep this necklace safe, and don’t bring it out again from now on!”

“No way!” Without even thinking, Haley immediately dismissed.
She said. “Aaron’s grandfather and uncle served in the military, but they’re both gone. His father retired from the army and lives in the countryside. The Thompson family lives alone in the village and couldn’t possibly know anyone from the
military!
If that were really the case, the siblings wouldn’t need to rely on financial help from the Warren family just to afford school.
At that moment, Haley’s mother suddenly said, “Haley, since Alex doesn’t really like you and only got engaged because you took Ellie’s necklace and he mistook you for her, why don’t youst go back to Aaron? As long as Aaron can save your brother, we won’t stop you from being with him anymore.”

After a brief hesitation, Haley picked up her phone and called Aaron.

When the call connected, Haley was clearly excited. She just knew Aaron couldn’t let her go, “Aaron, I need to talk to you. How about we meet up?”
On the other end of the line, Aaron’s tone was stern. There’s nothing for us to discuss. I took your call to tell you to stop bothering my sister. No matter who you turn to, I will handle this case by the book!”

Since Aaron was so heartless, she couldn’t be blamed for being realistic.
If there was no chance with Aaron, then she must make sure Alez won’t leave her. She couldn’t end up empty–handed.
Two days later, it was drizzling in Jaslands.
Ellie was in her room reading when the butler, Evan, called her downstairs.
“Ms. Grant” Ellie was a bit surprised to see Diana.
Diana took Ellie’s hand and led her outside. “My dad said that your brother drove me home the other day and I threw up all over him. Come with me to pick out a new outfit for him to say thanks, or my dad will keep nagging me.”
In the afternoon, Diana dragged Ellie to the most luxurious malon Jaslands.
“Ms. Grant, you don’t have to spend so much. Ellie saw the price tag on the men’s shirt Diana was holding and hurriedly put it back in shock.
With a sly smile, Diana looked at Ellie and said, “Ellie, I’m buying a shirt for Mark too, and can you help me pick one that
suits him?”
Ellie awkwardly said, “Ms. Grant, I never really had a good eye for these things.”
Diana giggled as she continued to persuade Ellie, “Actually, Markis quite a catch. Don’t think just because he’s a doctor he’s not well off.

Ellie felt awkward and didn’t know what to say. This was typical of Diana; every time she saw her, she promoted Mark.
Seeing Ellie stay silent. Diana insistently asked. “Why don’t you give Mark a try? You might just find yourself charmed by his personality if you spend some time with him.”
“Diana, you’re really underestimating her. Not far away. Haley and her friend approached with mocking expressions.
Seeing Haley, Ellie couldn’t help but frown.
Diana handed a few men’s shirts to Ellie and leisurely swung a wooden hanger in her hand as she approached Haley. “Haley. if you’re itching for some trouble, just let me know; I’ll help you out.”
“Diana, the real ‘other woman‘ is her, not me!” Haley pointed at Ellie standing behind Diana and sarcastically said. “Alex was the one who pursued me. We’re even engaged now. The Warren family elders approved of us, and everyone knows that.”
Haley said, “If it wasn’t for her meddling, the elders of the Warren family wouldn’t have misunderstood me, and they wouldn’t have changed their mind about accepting me as their daughter–in–law!”
Ellie stood quietly next to Alex, watching Haley becoming increasingly unhinged.
Haley said, “A dog that bites doesn’t bark. You still think she’s a friend, but she’s already been with Alex ages ago!”
Ellie was about to speak when Diana raised the wooden clothes hanger in his hand and swung it towards Haley’s head.
Before Diana could hit Haley with the hanger, a figure suddenly Hashed forward and slapped Haley hard across the face.
