Chapter 199
“Mr. Warren, Ellie needs to rest now. If you need anything in the future, call me directly,” said Aaron.
“Aaron I…” said Alex.
“Beep…
Before Alex finished his words, Aaron hung up the phone..
Late at night. By the wall outside the back door of the Thompson residence in West Suburb No. 7. Alex circled back and forth countless times. He removed his jacket and threw it at Barr, unbuttoning his cuffs.
Seeing that Alex was about to climb over the wall, Barry hurriedly stopped him. “Mr. Warren, calm down! We’re at the Thompson residence. You can’t climb the wall.”
Alex pushed Barry away and said, “You’ve been with me for so long, yet you’re still such a coward.”
Barry was rendered speechless.
Just as Alex was about to climb the wall of the Thompson residence, his phone rang
[Mr. Warren, my home is covered by surveillance cameras. If you try to climb over the wall, you’ll immediately trigger the automatic alarm system. The police will come before dawn.]
Looking at the message and surveillance screenshot sent by Aaron on his phone, Alex held his phone and looked at Barry.
Barry braced himself and said, “Mr. Warren, this is the Thompson residence. The security system here is military–grade. You’d better be careful”
A few minutes later, Alex obediently got into the car. He lit a cigarette with a sullen face, staring at the gate of the Thompson residence, and stayed there until dawn.
“Mrs. Thompson, I want to see Ellie. Please let me in. I’ll leave after one glance at her.” Early in the morning, Alex stopped Joanna, who was going out to buy groceries.
“I won’t stop you from seeing Ellie, but you have to wait until she recovers.” After saying that, Joanna walked around Alex and left.
Barry watched from afar as Alex was left standing at the door and walked over. “Mr. Warren, there’s a morning meeting at nine o’clock.”
“Back to the company,” Alex rubbed his aching temples, turned around, and got into the car.
Just after ten o’clock in the morning. At the CEO office of Warren Group.
Nalani reluctantly knocked on the door and entered. Looking at the huge check that Alex pushed in front of her, she picked it up slowly. Mr. Warren, what do you mean by this?”
“Find a way to get Ellie out,” said Alex.
Before Alex could finish speaking, Nalani’s face changed. She put the check back where it was and refused on the spot. “You are indeed generous, but I don’t dare to take this money.”

“Jason is a ruthless person who can bury someone alive with a smile. If you’re not afraid of being buried, go yourself.” After saying that, Nalani turned and left.
Near noon, Barry hurried in. “Mr. Warren, Mrs. Thompson is at the Dreamland Cafe.”
Alex rushed to the Dreamland Café as quickly as possible. Whitney happened to come out of the coffee shop with a friend.
“Whitney.” Alex stepped forward and called Whitney.
The two friends beside Whitney looked at Alex and said, “Whitney, is this your husband’s nephew? He’s really something. If he’s still single, how about I introduce my sister to him?”
Whitney glanced at Alex and quickly sent her two friends away.
“Whitney, how’s Ellie doing? Does her head still hurt?” asked Alex
“Her head won’t hurt as long as you don’t bother her,” replied Whitney
Alex was rendered speechless by Whitney’s sharp retort.
When he spoke again, his voice lacked its previous confidence. “Whitney, please let me see her. Aaron won’t let me in…
And…
“He won’t even let me talk to Ellie on the phone. I’m worried about Ellie.” Realizing he’d misspoken, Alex quickly corrected himself.
His voice was almost pleading. “Why is the Thompson family suddenly keeping to themselves? Is it because of me?”
“What do you think?” Whitney countered.
Alex was left speechless.
In the evening, Alex returned home, his face dark as thunder.
“Anyone would think you’d been to war. Look at you,” said Nancy
“Mom, if you have the energy to scold me, you might as well help me think of a solution,” Alex said, his face grim.
“You’ve done all the wicked things, Nancy said, poking herself in the chest. “I’m not as heartless as you, nor as thick–skinned. If you can’t think of a solution, what can I do?”
Alex was rendered speechless.
Late that night, the lights were off in the master bedroom on the second floor of the Warrent family house. The dark room flickered as a lighter clicked.
Alex sat casually on the edge of the bed, his legs in black suit pans. He wore a black shirt, the collar open and the hem pulled out from his waist.
He kept his head turned, staring at the silicone doll beside him. His eyes unreadable. He kept clicking the lighter.
As if he had suddenly remembered something, he got out of bed. Ten minutes later, he left home.
“Mr. Warren, where to now?” Barry asked. He had been woken up by a phone call from Alex and his eyes were still blurry.

Alex said. “Go to the Mosley family.
A few afternoons later, Joanna and Whitney were talking downstairs when Ellie, fully dressed, came down the stairs.
Hearing Ellie was going out, Whitney and Joanna quickly stopped her.
Joanna said. “Ellie, you’re not fully recovered yet, so don’t go out. If you want to buy something. I’ll go buy it for you.”
Ellie gripped her phone, a hint of urgency in her voice. “Mom, Lacey is injured and in the hospital. I have to go see her.
Lacey was a good friend Ellie had known since college in Jinerity so Ellie remembered Lacey.
“Mom, Whitney, I know you’re worried about me. Although I’ve lost some of my memory, I’m an adult. I’m just going out to see a friend and I’ll be back. Don’t worry. Ellie finished and was about to leave when Whitney stopped her..
Whitney gave Joanna a look.
Joanna said. “Ellie, the doctor said your headache hasn’t completely gone away. It’s too dangerous for you to go out alone. I’m really worried.”
Whitney said, “Ellie, why don’t I go with you? I can pick Aaron up on the way.”
In the end. Whitney accompanied Ellie out the door.
Around noon. Jaslands Hospital.
Whitney accompanied Ellie to Lacey’s ward.
Seeing Lacey lying in bed with her leg bandaged and her mother taking care of her by the bedside, Whitney greeted Lacey politely.
Seeing Ellie chatting with Lacey by the bedside, Whitney though fully walked around the room, looking around.
She thought Alex was sly and wicked. So before she left, she called her husband and he reminded her not to let Ellie out of her sight, just in case Alex tried to take advantage of Ellie’s amnesia to coax Ellie away.
“Mrs. Thompson. Vanessa came over and pulled Whitney’s hand toward the door. “I heard that your nephew still doesn’t have a girlfriend, right?”
Seeing Vanessa’s demeanor, Whitney knew that Vanessa was going to introduce a girl to Aaron again.
“Temporarily no, Whitney answered truthfully.
“Mrs. Thompson, let’s talk outside and let the two girls talk, Vanessa said, pulling Whitney–out of the ward.
“Mrs. Mosley, if you have anything to say, just say it here.” Whitney said, standing in the corridor, her eyes never leaving the door of Lacey’s ward.
In the ward, Ellie was sitting by the bed talking to Lacey when someone suddenly grabbed her ankle.
