Seeing Alex emerge from under the hospital bed. Ellie’s jaw dropped in astonishment. “Alex, how… Why… She stammered.
“Shh, be quiet,” Alex whispered, covering Ellie’s mouth to stop her from making a sound. He then wrapped an arm around her waist and carried her behind the curtain.
Lacey on the bed directly covered her head with the quilt and kept muttering. Tm sorry, Ellie. I didn’t mean to lie to you. Blame Alex, the jerk. He threatened me.”
Alex threatened Lacey, saying that if Lacey didn’t help him trick Ellie out, he would tell everyone about how Layton drugged him and put Layton in jail.
Lacey kept advising Layton to stay away from Alex before, or Layton wouldn’t be able to find a girlfriend. But Layton just wouldn’t listen.
Now Layton was completely led astray by Alex and was caught red–handed. Even Lacey couldn’t escape Alex’s clutches.
Hearing the movement behind the curtain, Lacey quickly covered her ears with the quilt.
Behind the curtain, instead of letting go, Alex hugged Ellie tighter and kissed her.
Ellie’s eyes widened and she was so nervous that she almost forget to breathe. ‘How can he take the initiative to kiss me?” thought Ellie.
Meeting Ellie’s shocked eyes, Alex coaxed gently, “I’ll let go of you, but you have to be good and not shout.”
Seeing Ellie nod, Alex was relieved to let go of her. He held Ellie shoulders, bent over slightly to keep his eyes level with. hers, and unconsciously moved closer until their breaths mingled.
Only then did Alex say, “Don’t look at me like that. We got together more than a month ago in Jinerity.”
Ellie’s mind was too muddled to think. She moved her lips and finally asked, “Alex, what are you talking about? What do you
mean?”
Ellie liked Alex for many years, but she was well aware of the gap between them. She had never thought about being with him.
“That means we slept together,” said Alex.
“You’re talking nonsense!” Ellie blurted out.
Alex was afraid that Ellie wouldn’t understand, so he leaned down and kissed Ellie forcefully on the lips. “More than a month ago. In Jinerity. We did sleep together and do things that men and women would do. Understand?”
Ellie was stunned and couldn’t believe it. More than a month age. In Jinerity… Ellie tried hard to remember, but a sudden headache struck her. She broke out in a cold sweat, instinctively clutching her head,
“Is your head hurting again?” Alex carefully pulled Ellie into his arms and massaged her temples.
After a while, Ellie felt a little better. She pushed Alex’s hands away.
Alex finally breathed a sigh of relief when he felt Ellie’s breathing calm down.
Ellie liked Alex, but it was a one–sided love. She never dared to reveal her feelings, nor did she ever think there would be a

Meeting Ellie’s confused eyes, Alex hugged her tightly with heartache. “Ellie, listen to me. We’re together. Although we were drugged, I’m willing. You already agreed to be with me. Even if you don’t remember, you can’t go back on your word.”
He held Ellie tightly and coaxed her gently, whispering in her car “Ellie, let’s get married.”
Ellie calmed down after the initial shock. However, when she heard the word “married“, she pushed Alex away with wary eyes. “Whether what you said is true or not, I can’t agree to marry you.”
“Why can’t you just agree?” asked Alex.
“I promised Aaron that until my memory fully recovers, I will keep things as they are and not make any rash decisions,” said
Ellie.
Alex was left speechless.
Their eyes locked. Alex almost choked on his frustration. He had countless times been driven to the brink of fury by Ellie’s unwavering obedience to Aaron and disregard for his opinions. And now, even with Ellie’s memory gone, she was still clinging to Aaron’s words.
Alex’s chest heaved with suppressed emotions. He swallowed hard and said again, “If you don’t believe me, you can ask Lacey.”
“I should ask Aaron directly than anyone else,” said Ellie.
Alex was rendered speechless.
After a moment of stunned silence, Alex found himself utterly defeated. He sighed, “Ellie, go ahead and ask Aaron. You can also ask Joanna, Jason, and Whitney.”
“I definitely will,” said Ellie.
Although Ellie was thoroughly confused by Alex’s words, a sliver of rationality remained. She trusted that Aaron had a reason for asking this of her.
Sensing Ellie’s guardedness, a fire ignited within him. Losing control, he held Ellie tighter and whispered passionately in her ear. “Ellie, I know you’ve liked me for seven years.”
As he felt Ellie stiffen in his arms, Alex quickly explained, “Ellie, I won’t let your love be in vain. You’re the only one for me and we’re meant to be. I’ll accept any consequence, any punishment, as long as you’ll accept me.”
Held tightly in Alex’s embrace, Ellie struggled to breathe. Her mind was in such a state of confusion that she couldn’t think straight.
What had happened between us? Why was Alex acting this way toward me all of a sudden?’ thought Ellie,
“Stop. I don’t believe a word you’re saying. I won’t agree with any thing,” said Ellie.
At that moment, all Ellie could think about was Aaron’s warning: Don’t change anything before your memories fully return. Don’t make any decisions,”
“Let me go! I need to find Whitney. I want to go home. Ellie was a mess, struggling incessantly. But Alex couldn’t bring himself to release her.
Holding Ellie close, Alex rested his head in the crook of her neck soothing her patiently. “Keep your phone nearby. Respond to my messages. Don’t let Aaron answer my calls. If you need anything, come to me.”

Unable to contain himself. Alex leaned down to kiss Ellie, his actions sending a wave of fear through Ellie. Ellie’s face paled and she pushed Alex away with all her might.
Lacey was lying in bed when Vanessa, Whitney, and Aaron came in. Startled, she nearly jumped out of bed. She wanted to make a sound to warn Alex behind the curtain, but she was so nervous that she couldn’t speak.
In a moment of desperation, she grabbed a pillow and threw it towards the curtain. However, she didn’t throw it hard enough, and the pillow landed on the floor before it touched the curtain. Only the curtain was left swaying-
Seeing Vanessa, Whitney, and Aaron walking towards the curtain Lacey quickly pulled the quilt over her head in fear.
“You have no idea how much I’ve been holding back since I came back from Jinerity. I dream of doing it with you…” said
Alex.
As Alex was engrossed in teasing Ellie, the curtain was slowly pulled open.
Seeing that Whitney, Aaron, and Vanessa were all staring at him, Alex was rendered speechless.
