“Ellie, slow down.” Alex watched as Ellie sprinted away, faster than when a dog was chasing her. He caught up to her in the hallway and stopped her again.
The more Alex tried to get close to Ellie, the more flustered Ellie became, dodging his every move.
“It’s not what you think,” said Alex.
Alex grabbed Ellie’s wrist and pulled her towards him. Startled, Ellie quickly broke free and said, “You don’t have to explai I understand.”
Men all had their quirks. But Ellie couldn’t accept the doll wearing her clothes.
“No, you didn’t.” Alex was getting anxious. “The doll was naked when others gave it to me. I saw that you two were about the same size, so I put your clothes on it.”
Alex continued. “I was just holding it while I slept! I never use it. He stumbled over his words, getting more and more flustered. “I mean. I put it on the bed, but I didn’t do anything else.”
Alex met Ellie’s gaze, which was filled with a mixture of shock and disgust. He took a few deep breaths to calm himself dow Finally, he lowered his voice and pulled Ellie towards his room. Come back to my room with me. I’ll explain everything.”
“I’m not going to your room! Let go of mel” As soon as Ellie heard that Alex wanted to take her to his room, she started to struggle, pushing and yelling at him to let her go.
“Stop!” Alex chased after Ellie to the top of the stairs, only to be shipped back by Nancy
Alex covered his face, hopping mad. “Mom, my face hasn’t healed yet! Can you stop hitting me there?”
Nancy pointed a finger at Alex’s nose and said, “You little rascal! Don’t forget about the hole in Rusba Mountain. Get back to
your room!”
A few minutes later, Alex was back in his room. He stripped the doll of its clothes, stuffed it naked into his locked safe, and secured it with three locks before finally relaxing.
After changing into dark pajamas and blow–drying his hair, he held Ellie’s dress in one hand and a phone charger in the other. He stood outside Ellie’s door again. “Hey, I’m going to get you something to eat. I’ve left the charger here.”
After knocking for a while with no response, Alex hung the charger on the door and headed downstairs.
Close to nine in the evening. Alex propped his phone up on the kitchen counter, following a video tutorial on how to cook noodles.
In the living room, Nancy, Todd, and Evan watched Alex busying himself in the kitchen, their expressions a mix of
emotions
“Honry” Nancy remarked, “We’ve raised him for over twenty yes and he’s never even given us a glass of water. Now look at ham playing chef
Todd remained silent.
“That’s great, Mr. and Mrs. Warren. It shows that Mr. Alex Warren knows how to care for a woman,” said Evan
“Even if he does kisw how to care for a woman, Ellie won’t ware him” Nancy couldn’t bear to look at Alex. She dragged Todd back to their room.

“Mom, take this to Ellie Alex stopped his parents with a bowl of boodles in his hands.
Nancy stared at the noodles made by Alex and said sarcastically. Oh, you’ve done a good job.”

Alex pursed his lips, automatically ignoring Nancy’s sarcasm. “Mom, Ellie has hypoglycemia and hasn’t eaten anything tonight. Please help me take it to her?
Seeing Alex’s pathetic look. Nancy took the bowl of noodles and uttered a curse.
Alex stood in the corridor. Only after Nancy entered Ellie’s room did he turn around and go back to his room with relief.
Tve been waiting for you. What took you so long?” Alex walked to Layton’s private room in the Earl Hotel’s club. Layton. started complaining as soon as Alex stepped through the door
Alex sat down and downed a glass of wine. After putting down the glass, he glared at Layton. “Why don’t you just go hiding until Nalani gets remarried?”

Layton sat leisurely on the sofa opposite Alex, fiddling with his newly done hair on his phone. “Dude, I helped you out so much, but you bombed my yacht.”
Alex said. You call that helping me?”
Layton put down his phone and grinned. “If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have been able to trick Ellie back.”
Alex said, “We’re meant to be. Even without you, we would have ended up together sooner or later.”
“What exactly happened on that night in Jinerity?” Alex poured himself another glass of wine.
Layton spread his hands and said, “I was too far away and didn’t see their faces. I didn’t know that those two were going after Diana. I didn’t want to waste it, so I put what they had left in your drink.”
Alex asked, “Is this that simple?”
Layton answered, “Yep.”
Alex stood up with his glass in hand, his gaze fixed on Layton from above. “You first made sure that Diana and Ellie drank the spiked wine, then had someone switch my room number with Ellie’s.
“Then you took the opportunity to spike my drink and went to lie’s floor to stop her. Later, you took her to my room. Am I right?
Layton rolled his eyes at Alex and said, “You already know it. Why are you asking?”
Alex sauntered over, bent down, and rested one hand on the back of Layton’s sofa. “You’re not helping me. You’re harming me! If I wasn’t so resilient, Aaron would have destroyed ine by now.”
Layton remained indifferent to Alex’s warning. “Well, whose fault is it? There were so many people, but you chose Nalani. What was I supposed to do? Wait forever?
Anyway, it’s a done deal. If you dare touch my things again, I’llll Ellie about all the stupid things you did to her before”

Alex issued a stern warning. Layton. If you dare utter a word of his to Ellie, I swear I’ll dig up your entire Mosley family graveyard

“Just go ahead.” Layton scoffed, giving Alex a defiant look. “It’s just a bunch of bones. As for you, let’s see what you’ll do when. Ellie regains her memory.”
“Wait until Nalani agrees to be with you, then come laugh at me Alex retorted, slamming the door behind him.
Late that night, Alex returned home.
Alex stood before Ellie’s door, his hand gripping the handle. He gently turned it, only to find it locked. Releasing his grip, he paced back and forth restlessly.
He’d finally made some progress with Ellie and he wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip away. He had to find a way to keep Ellie by his side forever. Lighting a cigarette, he leaned against the railing, his gaze fixed on Ellie’s door.
“What are you doing here?” said Nancy.
Alex turned around to see a woman with disheveled hair and bare feet standing in front of him. Startled, he reacted dramatically. He lost his balance and tumbled down to the first–floor hall. A loud thud echoed through the living room, followed by Nancy’s scream.
