Chapter 213
“Here, Mr. Warren!” The sky was just beginning to lighten, and the dense fog hadn’t fully cleared yet when Barry found
them. “Alex!”
It wasn’t until Barry and the bodyguards lifted Alex out of the water together that Ellie saw what had been supporting him.
The broken tree root beneath him was jagged and uneven, stained with a dark red.
Her eyes fell on Alex’s face, covered in blood, and Ellie’s tears flowed uncontrollably as she whispered, “Crazy”
Barry said. “Ms. Thompson, Mr. Warren had already sent someone to
should come back with us.”“
Sheahow Church to pick up Ms. Janssen last night. Yo
A few hours later, at the Imperial Hospital, Alex was transferred from the emergency room to a VIP ward.
“I’m so sorry, Mrs. Warren. It’s all my fault,” Ellie said.
Carlos‘ condition had improved, and when she heard that Quinle was sick and her sister was too busy to come back, Ellie decided to go and bring her home.
After all, Quinlee had played a significant role in getting Ryker to agree to the surgery.
But Ellie never expected an accident to happen on the way. And he certainly didn’t anticipate that Alex would show up just in time to save her once again.
“The patient’s vital signs are stable. The prolonged unconsciousness might be related to psychological factors. Family members should talk to him more, see if that can help wake him up, the doctor suggested.
Alex had been unconscious for a day and a night without waking up.
In the afternoon, Ellie stayed in Alex’s hospital room, taking care of him.
She sat on a chair, leaned over his hospital bed, and held his hand.
In the reed marsh, she had listened to Alex talking incessantly.
When he fell silent, she thought he was just tired and had fallen asleep. She didn’t realize that he had actually fainted.
Even in his unconscious state, his body remained propped up, and his arm around her still had strength.
She remembered every word he had said before slipping into unconsciousness,
He had said, “Ellie, let’s go back to the way things were. I’ll protect you, and you’ll just listen to me.
He had said, “Think about me. Don’t ignore me.”
Later, he had cried.
He had pleaded. “Can you give me just one more chance?”
He had admitted, “I know it was my fault, but I can’t bear to just miss out on you like this.”
He had confessed. “You have no idea how scared I a
Tam of you ignoring me.
And then he had held her tightly, apologizing over and over again.

Chapter 213
She didn’t know why he felt the need to apologize to her, but she was heartbroken for him.
She had secretly liked him for so long, and she had never imagined that he would respond to her with such intensity.
At that moment, she had really wanted to say yes to him. But she hadn’t forgotten what Aaron had told her.
Until she regained all her memories, she had to maintain the status quo and not make any decisions on her own.
So during her time at the Warren Manor, no matter how much Alex tried to charm her, even though her heart was pounding with anxiety, she had forced herself to stay calm and hadn’t given him any response.
But now, her heart was in complete turmoil.
Her mind was filled with the terrifying image of Alex fighting like a madman to protect her.
Every time he shielded her, he did it with such desperation, willing to leave his back exposed to the attackers as long as she was safe in his arms.
It had always been like this, and it still was.
At that moment, her affection and reliance on Alex reached its peak.
she blurted out, “Alex, if you wake up, I’ll agree to you.”
She cried, “I’ll listen to you and won’t push you away anymore.”
“Really?” Alex’s weak voice sounded, and Ellie’s tears stopped abruptly.
Their eyes m met, and Ellie was stunned for a moment.
“I heard everything. You can’t go back on your word,” Alex said, ignoring the pain in his body as he struggled to sit up and pulled Ellic into his arms.
Ellie put one hand on the edge of the hospital bed and the other on Alex, saying, “Alex, don’t pull me. I’ll go get the doctor”
Alex, still moving closer to Ellie, said, “No need for the doctor. Say it again, and I’ll record it.”
Ellie groaned, “No need to record. I keep my promises.”
Alex replied, “No. What if you change your mind later when Aaron says something?”
Inside the hospital room, the two were in a tug–of–war.
Outside the room, a few people stood in a line, all looking at the shameless man inside with disapproval.
If y
you guys won’t go in, I will, Layton said, making a stylish move to stand at the door of the hospital room and knocking
Twice.
Ellie, seeing Layton come in. pushed Alex away and quickly hid out of the room.
Layton stood by Alex’s bedside and teasingly poked Alex’s injured leg with his finger, saying. “Using such a way on her, aren’t you afraid she’ll remeinber everything and stab you with a knife once she’s back to normal?“
Alex’s expression darkened as he lay back down straight.
At that moment. Harry knocked and came in. Seeing Layton there, he looked to his boss.
Alex said, “Go ahead“.

Chapter 213
E
Barry reported, “Mr. Warren, the location where Ms. Thompson had her accident is on a reservoir dam road in a village at the southwest corner of the city. The village has only small roads and no surveillance.
“With the heavy fog that night, no suspicious persons were found entering the village after questioning the villagers.”
Barry continued. “The people who went to Sheahow Church said Ms. Janssen was indeed sick. When they arrived, she had a high fever and was unconscious,”
Barry added. “The news just reported that on the day of the heavy fog, there was a smash–and–grab robbery in Harwood.
“The suspects were arrested at a location about a twenty–minute drive from where Ms. Thompson had her accident. Based on the timing, it’s likely the same group of people.”
At the same time, at the Grant Manor, Quinlee, watching the latest news on her phone, endured her discomfort and got out of bed:
She had been planning for so long, carefully choosing a perfect spot for that bitch Ellie. She hadn’t expected Alex to show up just in time and save her.
She had initially worried that Alex might get suspicious, but the night she ordered the attack, there just happened to be a smash–and–grab robbery in Harwood.
The timing, location, and even the number of people seemed to match. There was nothing to worry about.
“You won’t always be this lucky, you bitch, Quinlee muttered to herself.
She secretly took out a spare phone from under her pillow and sent a message.
That night, Alex made an excuse about the inconvenience of staying in the hospital and insisted on going home to recover
“Either you move into my room, or I’ll move into yours,” he said.
On the second floor of the Warren Manor, Alex sat on the edge of the bed, wrapped his arms around Ellie’s waist, and rested his face on her flat stomach.
“Alex, no, please. I need to go home and let my family know,” Ellie said, her ears burning with embarrassment. She didn’t dare push him away too hard, for fear of hurting his injured leg.
With his eyes closed, Alex inhaled Ellie’s scent and said, “I’ll go with you to the Thompson residence tomorrow and talk to them.
“No, let me think about it some more, Ellie replied, breaking free from Alex and running out of the room
Alex sat on the bed, staring at the door, his flickering emotions gradually turning into determination.
He would seize this opportunity and find a way to keep her by his side forever.
Elle, preoccupied with thoughts, tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep.
Whenever she closed her eyes, all she saw was Alex’s cautious yel hopeful gaze.
When she opened them, all she heard was his ambiguous yet gentle voice.

Not many people showed her genuine affection, and even fewer were willing to risk their lives for her. In the end, there could only be one person to walk with her till the end.
Everyone had only one heart, and she didn’t want to keep cutting deep with indifference.
She wanted to just follow her heart this once and take a gamble.
