The four girls sat at the table, each lost in their own thoughts as they ate. By the time they left the hotel, it was almost nine o’clock.
When they reached the parking lot in front of the hotel, Diana fished her car keys out of her bag. “Ellie. I’ll drive
“No need. Alex said he’d come pick me up.” Ellie said shyly.
Suddenly, Quinlee said. “It’s Yvette.”
Hearing Quinlee’s voice, Ellie followed her gaze and saw Yvette and Aaron about to get into a car.
Everyone else turned to look in the same direction. Not far away Yvette and Aaron also turned to face them
Diana was the first to look away. She walked over to her car, keys in hand.
“Aaron,” Ellie quickly called out as she walked toward them,
you home
Yvette’s face lit up with delight upon seeing them. She affectionately took Ellie’s hand and said, “Ellie, I was just talking to Aaron about you. I got a new beauty membership–let’s go for skincare treatments together sometime.”
Ellie awkwardly pulled her hand back. “Thanks, Yvette, but no need.”
She had never been one to spend money at beauty salons, saunas, or gyms. The only times she ever went to those places were when Diana dragged her along or when Lacey forced her to join.
“You’re Aaron’s only sister. He loves you, of course, but he’s a ma–there are things he won’t always think of, Yvette said warmly. “If you ever need anything, just come to me. No need to be polite
Yvette’s enthusiasm made Ellie uncomfortable. She glanced at Aaron and saw that his brows were tightly furrowed, his expression dark. Feeling awkward, she could only nod.
Aaron had only just agreed to spend some time with Yvette to see how things went, yet Yvette was already treating herself as his wife. Ellie wasn’t sure if this was a good thing or not.
Watching Yvette warmly greet Quinlee and Lacey before making her way toward Diana, Ellie felt a sense of unease and hurried after her.
Yvette took the initiative to greet Diana, but Diana merely rolled her eyes, making the atmosphere instantly awkward. Yvette looked aggrievedly at Aaron.
Quinlee tugged at Diana’s sleeve and whispered, “Diana, don’t be like this. Yvette is Mr. Thompson’s girlfriend–she might even become Ellie’s sister–in–law one day. We’ll all be friends in the future.”
Diana gave Yvette a disdainful once–over and sneered, “Yeah, no don’t make friends with people like her.”
Diana might be playful, but she never let anyone take advantage of her. That night at the bar, she had been a little drunk, but she had been fully aware of what was happening
She remembered Yvette walking past her with a large group of friends, some of whoni had tried to put their hands on her and forcibly take her out of the bar. Diana had wasted no time in breaking their bones.
She had also seen, with her own eyes, Yvette deliberately kick her phone under another table when it had accidentally fallen
to the floor.
And that wasn’t all. Yvette had even taken sides against her. She had explained to the onlookers that her “friends” had only

wanted to take Diana home safely. She had even claimed that Diana was just drunk and making a scene.

As Diana recounted what had happened, the atmosphere grew even more awkward. Yvette looked around at everyone, then turned her gaze to Aaron before stepping forward to face Diana
She spoke with apparent sincerity. “Sorry, Ms. Grant. It was all a misunderstanding. I apologize on behalf of my friends. When Aaron visited my house, he told me you’re straightforward and easy to get along with. I’d really love to be friends with
you.
The moment Yvette mentioned Aaron, Diana’s expression darkened even further.
Tilting her head, she shot Yvette a cold glance and said mockingly. The people in my circle are all very distinguished. Are you sure you qualify to be my friend?”
Without another word. Diana opened the car door and got in. Yvette stood awkwardly beside the car, as if she still wanted to say something, but Aaron held her back.
Aaron remained outside while Diana sat inside the car. Their eyes met for a brief moment before both quickly looked away.
“Yvette, don’t take Diana’s words to heart. She’s actually a good person, though her mouth is just a bit sharp, Quinlee said.
“You’re Mr. Thompson’s girlfriend. Once you get married, you’ll be the lady of the Thompson residence. Right now, plenty of people are scrambling to cozy up to the Thompson family” Aber offering these perfunctory words of comfort, Quinlee finally got into the car.
Ellie, having listened to Quinlee’s words, couldn’t help but frown
“Are you blind?!” Diana suddenly shouted.
Hearing Diana’s exasperated voice, Ellie snapped back to attention Alex’s black Bentley had slowly pulled up, blocking Diana’s way.
The front passenger door opened, and Barry stepped out. “Apologies, Ms. Grant, We’ll only take a few minutes and be on our way.

time
Barry turned and opened the rear passenger door. Quinlee, seated in the front passenger seat, caught sight of Alex inside the Bentley. She subtly urged Diana, “Mr. Warren injured his leg. Lets just give him a moment and wait. Back up the car.
Diana put her car in reverse and backed into a parking spot. Dressed in an elegant black suit, Alex steadied himself against the car door as he got out
“Alex. I told you–your leg hasn’t recovered. You didn’t have to come pick me up,” Ellie said as she rushed forward to support him. She helped him over to where Aaron was standing.
Now facing Aaron, Alex–despite wearing the finest suit and the most luxurious watch–looked utterly humbled.
“Aaron, I came to take Ellie home,” he said quietly, both of them understanding the unspoken words between them.
Aaron looked at Ellie, his gaze hesitant. After a brief silence, he pulled her aside to talk in private.
Alex remained where he was, not following. Seeing Aaron trying to persuade Ellie once again, he grew anxious and began pacing in place.
Not far away, Ellie said to Aaron. “Once Carlos’s situation is seule, no matter what stage my relationship with Alex is at, I’ll go home like I promised. As long as I’m not married, I’m still a daughter of the Thompson family.”
“Aaron, I know I didn’t k
my
word, but I promise I’ll listen to you from now on,” she added.

Chapter 218
In the end, Ellie still got into Alex’s car. Aaron didn’t stop her.
As Alex’s car pulled away. Diana immediately drove off as well.
Once everyone had left. Yvette finally asked, her voice full of grievance, “Aaron, why does Ms. Grant have such a strong hostility toward me?”
Aaron frowned. “She doesn’t mean any harm. She was just spoiled by her family and can be a bit willful.”

Yvette said, “I thought that with her level of education and her father being a law professor, she’d be well–mannered. I never expected her to be so hurtful with her words.”
“Yvette. Diana is the daughter of a teacher I deeply respect. She may have a bad temper, but she’s not as terrible as you think. Don’t speak about her like that,” Aaron said, his tone serious, with a hint of anger.
Yvette quickly apologized. “Sorry, Aaron. The first I saw her was at a bar. She was drunk and surrounded by men, seeming to enjoy it. I guess I was too conservative and misjudged her.”
“No wonder Diana can’t be bothered with you.” Not far away, Lacey scoffed and rolled her eyes at Yvette in disdain. “You pretended that you want to be friends with her, but the second she’s not around, you start slandering her. How disgusting.”
“If Aaron weren’t here, I’d slap you. You are nothing” Lacey cursed as she walked away, even spitting on the ground in Yvette’s direction.
“Aaron, 1–Yvette was stunned. She hadn’t expected Lacey to overhear her badmouthing Diana, let alone expose her on the spot. Embarrassed, she looked at Aaron.
‘I’ll take you home.” Aaron turned and walked toward his car.
