Dave said, “Due to individual differences, Ms. Thompson may experience side effects after taking this medicine.”
Alex’s eyes narrowed gradually as he looked at Dave. “Side effects?”
Dave explained, “Clinical trials have shown that most patients suffered from abdominal pain, and the duration of the pain varies from person to person.”
“Get out!” Alex shoved Dave’s hand away forcefully, causing the white pill bottle to drop to the floor with a thud.
Alex bent down and picked up the still–unconscious Ellie, and then strode out of the consulting room. She had been afraid of pain since childhood; he couldn’t bear to give her such medicine.
Alex persuaded himself that there must be another way.
Late at night, on the streets of downtown Yorksure, Alex, dressed in black trousers and a white shirt, leaned against the car door, smoking.
His gaze was fixed on the distance, lost in the foreign night. It seemed as if he was trapped in this darkness, unable to find his
way.
At this moment, his mind was filled with the ticking of the clock. His grandfather, Carlos, only had approximately three‘ months left to live.
When the time came, no matter how things stood between him and Ellie, Ellie would have to return to the Thompson residence.
He brought Ellie to Yorksure, and Aaron set a time limit for him. In one week, Alex must take Ellie back to their home country.
Even the doctor said that the newly developed drug requires time for verification. However, Ale
really didn’t have the time.
Alex slightly tilted his head back, holding back the moisture at the corners of his eyes. He gently closed his eyes to hide the redness beneath.
In just over three months, merely about a hundred days, if they weren’t married and didn’t have children, he wouldn’t have any excuse to keep Ellie at the Warren Manor,
Once Ellie returned to the Thompson residence and regained her memory, he wouldn’t have a chance anymore.
She had lived at the Warren Manor for more than ten years. He Had plenty of time to keep her there, but he never even the thought of having a little more time with her by his side seemed like a luxury.
did. Now,
Hearing the back door of the car open behind him, Alex snapped back to reality. “Are you awake?” he asked as he turned to see Ellie getting out of the car. Alex flicked away the half–smoked cigarette in his hand and reached out to pull her to his side.
“Alex, how did I end up falling asleep? What did the doctor say? Ellie asked, looking around at the unfamiliar surroundings and trying hard to recall what had happened before she dozed off.
Alex lowered his eyes to avoid Ellie’s gaze. He wrapped his arms around her and gently pressed the back of her head against his chest with one hand, preventing her from seeing his expression.
He gently coaxed her with a low voice, “Maybe you didn’t rest well last night and you’re really tired. The specialist said that you’re mentally resistant to recalling things, so relax. We’ll go again in three days.”

“Perhaps because it was our first meeting, I wasn’t fully trusting of him. Next time, I’ll do my best to cooperate,” Ellie said, without the slightest doubt about what Alex told her.
“It’s still early; let me show you around,” Alex said, taking Ellie’s hand and walking along the sidewalk. A sleek black luxury car followed them at a proper distance.
“Wait here, and I’ll get it for you,” Alex said as soon as he noticed Ellie glance at the small ice–cream shop where people were queuing. He quickly went over and joined the queue.
Ellie watched from afar as Alex queued up to buy her ice cream. In the past, she wouldn’t have even dared to dream of such a thing. Standing tall and handsome in the queue, he was truly eye–catching.
His name wasn’t long, yet it filled her entire heart. For so many years, she had hidden him in her paintings, in her diary, and in her eyes. She had waited for such a long time, and he had taken ages to come. But in the end, he did come.
“Remember to hold my hand when we cross the street,” Alex said when he returned, taking Ellie’s hand to lead her across the road.
Ellie’s eyes were slightly red as she let Alex hold her hand tightly. The person she once could only secretly look at had now become the one holding her hand.
“This is cold, so don’t eat too much,” Alex cautioned.
Walking hand in hand on the sidewalk, listening to Alex’s gentle, Ellie smiled sweetly. She stopped and held the ice cream up to Alex’s mouth. “Well, as per the old rule, you take a big bite first”
In the past, whenever she ate something cold, he would always take a big bite before giving it to her.
Nancy would scold him for being shameless, taking Ellie’s ice cream, and sometimes would even slap him. But even after being scolded and slapped, he’d still “take” it the next time.
Until recently, when she took an ice–cream bar from the fridge, he bit off two–thirds of it in one go. He told her, “Don’t eat too much, or you’ll get a stomachache during your period and no one will be there to help.”
Only then did she realize that he didn’t want to eat her ice cream nor was he being a jerk to deliberately annoy her and take her food.
When being misunderstood, he never explained or changed. He was like that before, and he still is.
“I don’t want what you’re holding.” Hearing Alex’s voice, Ellie snapped back to reality.
A sudden kiss descended upon her. Before Ellie could react, her body was already in Alex’s embrace.
“So sweet,” Alex teased.
Hearing Alex’s suggestive breath, Ellie dropped the ice cream. Almost instinctively, she wrapped her arms around his neck to respond to his kiss. She had secretly liked him for seven whole years. Fortunately, he had turned back, and fortunately, she was still there.
Late at night, under the streetlights of a foreign land, they kissed passionately. Like countless lovers, they were deeply immersed in each other’s passion and couldn’t break free,
Alex said, “fil take you somewhere.” Ellie went weak in Alex’s arms from the kiss, and in the midst of confusion, Alex suddenly picked her up in a bridal–style carry.
Ellie asked, “Where are we going?”
“We’re going to the Ferris wheel to keep kissing”

The Ferris wheel spun around and around, with Alex and Ellie on it passionately kissing over and over again.
In the deserted corner of the park, among the audience watching street performers, at the pedestrian crossing waiting for the traffic light, at the bustling supermarket entrance, Alex kissed like a madman.
It was the first time she opened her heart and joined him in his madness, boldly responding to his passion.

“Close your eyes and rest obediently,” Alex said as he carried Ellie back to the hotel on the deserted early–morning streets.
Ellie lay on Alex’s back, obediently closing her eyes. Her mind was filled with images of wild kisses with Alex and the sweet nothings he whispered in her ear.
For the first time, she experienced the feeling of being in love. The feeling of being cherished by the person she liked was truly wonderful.
Alex carried Ellie back to the hotel. Gently placing her on the bed, he carefully helped her take off her outer clothes. Ellie was sound asleep, and Alex sat by the bed, his intense gaze fixed on her slightly swollen, ruby–red lips.
Tonight, she was so sweet, and her body was so soft. With affection surging in his eyes, he couldn’t help but lean down and plant a kiss on her lips. “You’re mine, and no one can take you away from me!” he murmured.
Hearing a knock on the door, Alex left the bedroom.
“Mr. Warren, the ring has arrived.” Barry came in and carefully handed Alex a delicate jewelry box.
Alex took it and opened it. Even if he couldn’t get Ellie pregnant right away, he believed that with a marriage certificate, he could still find a way to keep her by his side.
