Alex came out of the Thompson residence, and Chris, the general assistant, finally saw their boss. Chris reported, “Mr. Warren, there is an emergency meeting at 2 PM. Here is the agenda.”
“Let Vice President host the meeting.” Alex got into the car.
Barry asked, “Mr. Warren, where are we going now?”
Alex said, “Let’s go to the church on the Bondie Mountain.”
Barry and Chris exchanged glances. The black Bentley sped through the rain towards the destination. By dawn the next day, they just arrived at the foot of the Bondie Mountain.
It was raining heavily at that time. Except for the sound of the rain, the surroundings were extremely quiet. There were only the three of them and a driver, and no one else.
“Mr. Warren, there are 2,099 stone steps to the top. It would take most of the day to walk up even if we walked. Not to mention it’s raining heavily now.” Barry held an umbrella and stood in front of Alex, stopping him from going up the mountain.
Alex looked up at the mountain peak, but his view was blocked by the heavy rain. “You don’t have to follow me!” Alex pushed Barry aside and walked into the rain.
Ellie’s amnesia had shown signs of recovery during her second treatment in Yorksure. And Alex’s grandfather only had about three months left to live.
Now, Alex and Joanna had made a three–year agreement. During these three years, under any circumstances, he was not allowed to marry Ellie.
If Alex couldn’t find a way to get a marriage license with Ellie during Ellie’s amnesia, after Ellie regained her memory, there would be no more ties between him and Ellie.
“Mr. Warren, please wait.” Chris held an umbrella and came over again, stopping Alex.
“Get out of the way!” Alex pushed Chris aside. He didn’t believe in gods, but at this moment he was like a pious believer.
Behind him, Barry and Chris each held an umbrella and looked at each other in surprise. “Love really hurts,” Chris sighed and followed Alex up the mountain with Barry on his left and right.
The rain was getting heavier and heavier, and the stone steps leading to the church were washed by the rain and became even smoother. Alex was dressed in ascetic black.
This heavy rain didn’t stop. It seemed that it wanted to penetrate Alex’s heart and wash away his dirty soul. Behind Alex, the umbrellas held by Barry and Chris were blown away by the strong wind and they had to put them away.
Chris looked at the time and reminded Barry, “Mr. Jensen, it’s already evening. If we didn’t anything, Mr. Warren’s would definitely catch a bad cold.”
Barry wiped the rain off his face with the back of his hand and shook his head. Since the day Alex took over the Warren family and the Warren Group, he has been following Alex. He understood Alex’s feelings for Ellie better than anyone else.
In Yorksure, Alex knew that the newly developed medicine had side effects, but he still gave Ellie the medicine cruelly. Alex could be so ruthless to Ellie in order to strive for a future with her. Not to mention himself,
In the dead of night, the deserted Bondie Mountain was completely covered by darkness. The rain hadn’t stopped. On the contrary, it was getting heavier. The spreading white mist enveloped the entire Bondie Mountain in a hazy way.

Alex knelt on the last stone step, and his figure was blurred. He was soaked through, and his legs trembling on the stone steps couldn’t stop. But between his eyebrows and eyes, he was extremely pious without a trace of tiredness. Through the rain curtain, he finally saw the distant church gates.
Barry and Chris were just about to come forward to help from the left and right, but Alex stopped them. He was so close, and he couldn’t give up halfway.
Just then, Ellie called. Barry answered the phone and quickly handed it to Alex. “Alex, are you asleep?” Hearing Ellie’s soft voice on the other end of the phone, Alex couldn’t help but smile
He covered the phone with his hand and tried his best not to let her notice that he was outdoors. He spoke to Ellie with the gentlest voice possible. “Why are you still awake so late?”
Ellie said, “Alex, I was just thinking that if you hadn’t given me birth control pills in Yorksure and I had gotten pregnant, would we have been able to get married soon?”
Alex felt as if his heart was being tightly squeezed by someone, and it was so painful that he could hardly breathe. He suppressed his voice and tried to comfort her lightly. “We will definitely get married and have children.”
“Alex, once my mom is better, I want to go to the church to pray for the health and safety of your family and mine.
“I will tell the God that we want a boy and a girl, one who looks like you and one who looks like me.”
Hearing Ellie’s simple and expectant voice on the phone, Alex looked at the distant church gates, and tears welled up in his eyes. He knelt in the heavy rain and covered the receiver with his hand. His red eyes and shoulders couldn’t stop shaking, and he said with a sob, “Ellie, we will be happy!”
After the call ended, the raging sound of the rain around him couldn’t drown out his suppressed and painful sobs. He prayed that God could hear Ellie’s voice.
He prayed to the gods to bless him and let him get what he wanted. “I am willing to trade my happiness to have a perfect life with her!”
All night long, in front of the church on the Bondie Mountain, Alex didn’t leave.
The next morning, the sky was clear. Everything was nourished by the rain and grew vigorously. Ellie helped Joanna finish breakfast and went out to practice medical skills with Marvin for two hours.
Although she hadn’t regained her memory yet and Jason had asked her for a long leave and she didn’t need to go to work at the hospital for the time being, she still couldn’t neglect her studies.
After finishing her work and returning to the Thompson residence, it was almost noon. Because it was the weekend, Aaron was at home. The siblings were preparing lunch in the kitchen.
Ellie said, “Aaron, I know you don’t like Alex. He does have a lot of bad habits of rich kids, but he is good to me and is trying his best to change his shortcomings.
“Give him some time to prove himself. Next time Alex comes over, don’t always have a sullen face towards him, okay?” Remembering Alex’s appearance when he left yesterday, Ellie couldn’t help but speak up.
Aaron gave her a meaningful look and nodded.
Ellie happily changed the topic. “How are you and Yvette, your bind date, doing now?”
“We’ve been very busy recently and haven’t met much,” Aaron was busy with his work and replied casually.

Just then, Ellie heard Diana’s voice outside. She glanced at Aaron and quickly wiped her hands and went out of the kitchen.
At the door, Lacey was holding several boxes of expensive gifts and glaring at Quinlee and Yvette behind Diana. Lacey complained, “Diana, why did you bring them too?”
Diana looked at the two people behind her and explained helplessly, “Quinlee invited her. I can’t help it.”
Remembering at the parking lot, Yvette said something bad about Diana in front of Aaron, and Lacey rolled her eyes at Yvette.
Quinlee saw that Lacey was obviously resistant to Yvette and quickly came forward to explain. “I’m really sorry, Ms. Mosley. I invited Yvette to come together.
“After all, Yvette is Mr. Thompson’s girlfriend and will be the mistress of this house in the future. She came to visit her future mother–in–law, and I just happened to call her to come with me.”
“Come in and sit down quickly. I’ll ask Aaron to cut some fruits for you.” Yvette took a look at Lacey and Diana without showing any emotion and led everyone into the living room enthusiastically.
