Ellie was so startled she momentarily forgot to react. She stared wide–eyed at the stranger outside the window. And even when he noticed her staring back, he didn’t run–he just kept his eyes locked on her.
“Ah!” The young nurse behind Ellie let out an involuntary scream of fear. The two nurses, in a panic, knocked over a chair. causing quite a racket.
Ellie 11
turned to help her colleague up, and when she looked back, the outside was completely empty. Ellie anxiously closed the window and drew the curtains. Her face was unnaturally pale due to the shock.
A nurse said, “Standing at the window wrapped up like that at this time of night is no joke,”
The other nurse said. I don’t think he was joking at all, more like a creep!”
“He just stood there doing nothing, even calling the police might not help,”
Ellie slumped weakly into a chair, listening to her colleagues‘ chatter. She fought to overcome her fear as she recalled the look in that man’s eyes.
His
gaze was terrifying, like he had a vendetta against her. But after thinking it over, she was certain she didn’t know him. Just now in the parking lot, Diana had already noticed someone following Ellic, and now he silently returned to stand outside the window. This was definitely not a coworker’s prank. Ellie had a feeling this person was after her.
The more Ellie thought about it, the more terrified she became. She nervously got up to find paper and a pen, striving to sketch the stranger from memory as accurately as she could.
Tossing and turning with unease, Ellie finally ended her night shift and could head home at 8 AM. After a night spent on high alert, she felt incredibly exhausted.
She took a shower and fell straight into bed, skipping both breakfast and lunch, and didn’t wake up until around 3 PM to venture downstairs.
Aaron and Jason weren’t home; only Joanna and Whitney were there. Ellie hesitated and decided not to tell them about being followed.
Ellie felt a bit hungry and wanted to grab something to eat from the kitchen. But before she even stepped inside, the smell of fish hit her, making her stomach churn. Covering her mouth, she turned around and hurried back upstairs.
A few minutes later, Ellie was kneeling by the toilet, drenched in cold sweat but feeling slightly better. Suddenly, she remembered something and quickly checked the calendar on her phone. Her period was three days late.
Ellie gripped her phone tightly, her face turning pale. In order to save Alex, she had been injected with a drug, rendering her infertile for life.
She deemed that it must be that she had been too stressed lately, causing her cycle to delay. But recalling the time in Yorksure when she lost her memory and Alex secretly put birth control in her milk, Ellie only now started to suspect something was off.
Knowing full well that she couldn’t get pregnant. Alex went out of his way to put birth control in her milk and coax her into drinking it. She remembered vividly; that night, after drinking the spiked milk, she was in such severe pain that she eventually passed out.
After
r more than half an hour, Ellie went downstairs. Making an excuse to go out and be intentionally drove a long way to a pharmacy in the city.

Chapter 245
She bought two pregnancy tests, some household essentials, and two packs of sanitary pads. She took the tests out of her bag, carefully hiding them in her pocket, and absentmindedly walked back to her car.
Just as she took out her car keys and was about to cross the street, she spotted the strange man who had been following her at the hospital
Across the road, the stranger saw her and quickly started walking towards her. Ellie felt a shiver run down her spine and turned to walk quickly in the opposite direction. Soon, she was running. In a panic, she dashed into an upscale restaurant.
She glanced back to see if the stranger was following and accidentally bumped into someone. Feeling a hand supporting her waist, Ellie instinctively pushed the person away and stepped back.
Her shopping bag fell to the floor, and its contents scattered everywhere.
“I’m sorry,” Ellie apologized, only to realize she had bumped into Alex. Quickly crouching to pick up her belongings, she ignored him.
Alex, dressed in a sleek black business suit and surrounded by a group of people, stood there with his hand, which had just supported Ellie’s waist, slowly lowering. Seeing her obvious panic, Alex calmly knelt and picked up a pack of sanitary pads that had fallen by his feet..
Alex’s eyes locked onto the pack of sanitary pads in his hand, his gaze flickering with unease, feeling a suffocating tightness in his chest. In Yorksure, the drug he tricked Ellie into taking had completely failed.
All his scheming was for nothing: he caused Ellie so much pain that she fainted, yet she didn’t end up pregnant. There’s nothing left tying them together now.
Suddenly, his hand was empty as Ellie snatched the pads away. By the time Alex snapped out of it, Ellie was already gone. He stood up numbly, watching her hurried, disheveled steps as she rushed into the restaurant. Suppressing the dull ache in his chest. Alex quickly left the restaurant.
Ellie looked genuinely terrified, as if someone was chasing her. Alex stood at the restaurant entrance, calmly scanning the surroundings.
“Mr. Warren.” Barry noticed Alex acting out of character and hurried over.
Alex ordered, “Spread out and check if there’s anyone suspicious around!”
About ten minutes later, Barry reported, “Mr. Warren, no suspicious individuals, but Ms. Grant is up ahead.
Before Barry could finish, Alex was already on the move.
Diana was just about to get into her car when “bang!” the door was slammed shut. “Alex, what the hell? Why’d you close my door?” Diana’s face darkened as she saw Alex.
Alex said, “Ellie’s in the restaurant. It looks like someone’s been following her. Go check if she’s okay.”
“In broad daylight: That creep’s got some nerve!” Diana locked her car door and was about to head to Ellie, but Alex raised a hand to stop her.
Alex’s eyes narrowed sharply. “Say that again!”
“Last night at the hospital, Ellie was definitely followed by some stranger, but he bolted as soon as I shouted, Diana explained, noticing Alex’s murderous expression.
Even though Alex was a jerk, Diana couldn’t deny that if Ellie ever got into trouble, aside from Aaron, Alex would be the first
to throw down for Ellie.
“Alex, you owe Ellie big time. Don’t you dare let anything happen to her,” Diana reminded him before turning to head into

Barry asked. “Mr. Warren, what about you?”
Alex shot back, “Tm a grown man. What kind of psycho would dare mess with me?!”
Barry nodded, agreeing with Alex. When it came to dealing with freaks, Alex had no equal.
