“Let’s sit in the most visible spot. If that creep dares to show up again, I’ll make sure he’ll never be a man again!” Diana pulled Ellie to a window booth on the first floor.
“Diana, don’t you have that design industry dinner tonight? You should go so you don’t miss it. I’ve already sent Aaron my location; he’ll be here soon to pick me up.
This is a public place with surveillance, so it should be fine, Ellie said, glancing nervously out the window, feeling utterly useless.
Diana gave Ellie a supportive look. “It’s no big deal if I miss one dinner. I’ll stay here with you until Aaron comes to pick you. up, then I’ll leave. Otherwise, I won’t feel at ease.
Ellie’s mind was a mess, so she didn’t argue. She instinctively reached into her pocket to check if the early pregnancy test
was still there.
Not far outside, Alex’s eyes were fixed on Ellie in the booth. Even through the floor–to–ceiling window, he could sense her unease. He quietly ordered her some favorite dishes and then slipped away in his car.
A waiter said. “Ms. Grant, your friend specially ordered dinner for you and your friend.”
After the waiter left. Ellie spoke up shyly. “Diana, your friend really went all out for us,”
Diana looked at the two luxurious steak meals in front of them and sighed at the extravagance. She usually only ate her steak medium rare, and these medium–well dishes were clearly Ellie’s favorite.
Picking up
her knife and fork, Diana grumbled as she ate, “My friend’s heartless and tasteless. He’s got nothing but money, so dig in without guilt”
Ellie was momentarily speechless,
Just then, Yvette walked in with a huge tote bag, accompanied by Quinlee. “Dr. Thompson, what a coincidence, Yvette greeted Ellie warmly but ignored Diana.
Diana, sitting in her seat, rolled her eyes at Yvette and Quinlee and kept eating her dinner.
Ever since Diana’s fallout with Yvette, Quinlee had been fanning the flames, blaming Diana and pushing her to apologize. Diana wasn’t having it, not even if Winnie was around.
Ellie gave Diana an awkward glance. Although she had already mentally distanced herself from them and didn’t want to be friends with people like that, she still politely replied, “What a coincidence.”
Yvette glanced at Diana without a hint of emotion and raised her voice slightly as she spoke to Eilie. “I was wondering why Aaron told me to wait at this restaurant, and now I see you are here too.”
Ellie couldn’t help but frown. Aaron had already made it clear with Yvette before. Even after Yvette reached out to him multiple times, crying a lot, he still didn’t change his mind. So how did they end up meeting again?
“Yvette, since Ellie is here too, why don’t you just wait here?” Quinlee pointed to the spot next to Ellie, inviting Yvette to sit.
Yvette awkwardly looked at Ellie and asked, “Ellie, can I sit here and wait for Aaron?”
“No!” Diana rolled her eyes dramatically and pointed around. “There are empty seats everywhere, and you’re not sitting in them on purpose, right?!
Seeing Diana finally speak, Yvette carefully approached her. She met Diana’s obviously disdainful eyes and gave a slight smile, “Ms. Grant, I know there might be some misunderstandings between us. I’ll sit at another table, so please don’t get mad anymore

Yvette spoke with distress, just about to leave, but Quinlee subtly stopped her. Quinlee spoke slowly, deliberately trying to annoy Diana. “Yvette, you’re really easygoing, no wonder Mr. Thompson is so fond of you.”
Feeling embarrassed, Yvette replied, “Quinlee, don’t make things up. I’m not even close to Aaron’s type.”
The duo’s act was irritating Diana. With a loud sound, Diana slammed her utensils down and stood up abruptly. She looked at them, pointing to the door. “You both, get out and take your drama outside!”
Quinlee twitched her lips slightly and didn’t move.
Ellie quickly came over and ushered Quinlee away, saying, “Ms. Griffith, maybe you two should wait for Aaron at another table. They knew well that Diana liked Aaron, yet they were there chatting like this, clearly just trying to upset Diana.
Yvette pretended to apologize sincerely, pushing Ellie aside once more to stand in front of Diana. While she smiled pleasantly, a brief shadow of malice crossed her eyes.
She leaned closer to Diana, clutching an oversized handbag, and in a voice meant just for them, she said sharply, “I know you’re jealous of my dates with Aaron, but what can you do? Even if you are the most cherished daughter of the Grant family, you’re nothing in Aaron’s eyes.”
Yvette’s voice grew softer, dripping with sarcasm. “Getting paid for sleeping with men? You didn’t just throw yourself at my boyfriend, but you were eager to offer it for free. Who would’ve thought Ms. Grant was so desperate?”
In a fury, Diana slapped Yvette across the face.
Yvette was knocked to the ground by Diana’s slap, leaving everyone around shocked.
“Diana, don’t do anything reckless!” Ellie, seeing Diana stepping down from the seat, ready to approach Yvette again, hurriedly stepped in to stop Diana.
But Diana, being proud and usually acting instead of talking when provoked, had her temper fully ignited by Yvette. Ellie couldn’t hold her back.
“That lowlife who dared to mess with me last month is still stuck in the hospital!” Diana pushed Ellie aside and kicked away Yvette’s handbag.
Quinlee, fearless, stepped forward to block Diana, saying, “Diana, you can’t just hit people like that. Even respecting Mr. Thompson’s presence, you mustn’t embarrass Yvette in front of everyone.”
“Move away, or you’ll get slapped too! Diana warned, pushing Quinlee to the side. She stepped on the large handbag with her high heels and yanked Yvette’s hair for another slap.
Yvette felt dizzy from the hit, her mouth bleeding. But when she saw the person entering through the restaurant doors, a sly smile crept onto her lips.
Ignoring her own embarrassment, Yvette rushed to protect the oversized handbag. “Ms. Grant, even if you’re this impulsive and don’t respect others, inside this bag are life–saving medicines that not even your money can buy!”
“I don’t respect others? Diana bent down, snatched the handbag from Yvette’s hands, and tossed it aside.
The packages of medicine flew out of the handbag, scattering all over the restaurant, covering Aaron from head to toe.
*Im sorry, Aaron. I didn’t keep the medicine safe, and Ms. Grant threw it away!” Yvette cried as she saw Aaron come in. accusing Diana
Then she added, “Ms. Grant, no matter how temperamental you are, you can slap me in public, but I told you, these are life- saving medicines for my friend, and you still tossed them away!”
Diana sneered, “Birds of a feather flock together. Your friends are just as bad; they deserve what’s coming to them!”

Yvette argued. “Do you even realize how hard I pleaded with Ryker to bring me back and forth between Jaslands and Jinerity for over two weeks just to get these medicines? They’re for Mrs. Thompson’s rheumatism treatment! How could you throw them away just to humiliate me?!”
Quinlee exclaimed. “Diana, you’re supposed to be friends with Ellie and Mr. Thompson! How can you be so cruel and wish Mrs. Thompson dead?!”
