On the deserted island, all the bodyguards from the Warren family had moved back near the helicopter.
Alex and Ellie stood side by side by the shore. Ellie was quietly gazing at the endless ocean, completely silent.
Alex tilted his head slightly, maintaining the pose from when he was just looking at Ellie, his gaze fixed on her. She was noticeably thinner than before, with tiredness evident on her face. Yet, she seemed so calm, letting the sea breeze tousle her long hair without bothering to fix it.
He stood next to her, not frowning or pushing her away, creating an illusion of peaceful times. They hadn’t been together so quietly since Carlos passed away, even if it was just for a brief moment.
Thinking about that stormy day when Ellie decisively left the Warren Manor and left him, his heart still aches even now. He couldn’t help but step a little closer to Ellie, tentatively reaching out his hand to try to take hers.
As Ellie dodged, Alex’s hand accidentally brushed against her stomach for a brief moment. He quickly pulled his hand back.
Ellie slightly turned away from Alex, instinctively touching her stomach with her hand. That moment when Alex’s hand touched her stomach might have been the closest he’s ever been to this child.
With determination, Ellie took two steps to the side, putting distance between herself and Alex. Call her selfish or callous, but she simply couldn’t let Alex discover this child’s existence; she didn’t want anyone to know about the child. She no longer wished to become endlessly entangled with him.
Alex watched Ellie’s reaction quietly, his eyes full of tenderness. His Adam’s apple bobbed intensely. He fought the urge to hug and kiss Ellie, forcing himself to look away.
He said, “Ethan got out of jail early because Quinlee found someone to pull some strings secretly. I suspect the person tailing you is Ethan; he can’t get to me, so he’s going after you instead!”
Alex understood what Ellie wanted to hear and what she didn’t. He finally had a chance to be alone with her, and he didn’t want to say anything that would make her upset.
Seeing Ellie remain silent, Alex continued, “Even though I’ve let him go, I’m not letting this go. Until I find evidence, it’s best you take leave and stay home, waiting for my news.”
“Let’s head back. Alex began to say, but Ellie spoke up first. Without waiting for Alex to respond, she walked directly to the helicopter.
Ethan and Quinlee had nothing in common, but Quinlee still went to great efforts to get Ethan out of prison early.
Thinking back to the people who had been following her and then seeing Ethan just now, Ellie was almost certain that it was Ethan who had been stalking her all along.
With Ethan stalking and threatening her, there was no way this didn’t involve Quinlee as well. Ellie kept replaying every interaction she had with Quinlee, trying to figure out if she had unknowingly offended her.
Ellie returned to the Thompson residence the next morning. The black Bentley smoothly stopped at the entrance, and Alex was the first to step out of the car.
Without giving Alex a glance, Ellie walked straight into the Thompson residence. Alex clenched his fists by his sides. struggling to resist the urge to follow her, to call out to her. He didn’t want to upset her or see her frown.
Seeing Aaron come out from the gate, Alex quickly approached him. Aaron asked. “What happened last night?”
This morning, the family discovered Ellie wasn’t home. They called her and finally learned what had happened last night. From a distance, they saw Alex dropping Ellie off at the door, which put Aaron at ease.

“Ethan is out of jail because Quinlee secretly helped him. I was going to collect evidence to send both of them to jail, but the Grant family took them away!” Alex explained the whole situation to Aaron and added worriedly. “Make sure Ellie doesn’t go out alone. I’m worried about her safety!”
Aaron frowned. They both fell into silence until Aaron spoke sternly. “Mr. Warren, I’ll keep an disregarding the law.”
Alex replied, “I was forced to last night, but from now on. I’ll definitely follow the law.”
eye on this, but please stop
Aaron didn’t say anything more and turned to enter the house. He didn’t know if others believed Alex, but Aaron definitely didn’t.
A few hours later, Ellie woke up and went downstairs to eat. Seeing her mom and brother busy in the kitchen making things for her, Ellie felt a deep warmth in her heart. With such a wonderful family, it didn’t matter to her if she could never have her own kids.
Perhaps knowing that the person who had been secretly following her had been identified allowed Ellie to relax a bit after days of tension. Or maybe it was the light food Joanna made that increased her appetite. Ellie enjoyed a meal without feeling nauseous for once.
After breakfast, everyone gathered in front of the living room sofa to discuss what happened last night.
Whitney said, “Since Alex said so, it’s probably true. With Jason not around these days, Ellie, you should listen to Aaron and take a few days off to rest at home.”
Ellie sat quietly, hesitating for a while before finally speaking up. “I need to go out!” Seeing the surprised looks from everyone, Ellie explained, “Even though I’m sure the one following me is Ethan, I don’t have any proof.
Ellie continued, “So far, he hasn’t done anything to legally harm me, so reporting him wouldn’t count as a crime. I need to keep going to work and living my life as usual.
“If he really wants to get back at me, he’ll make another move, and that’s when we’ll have the evidence to catch him!”
Ellie casually placed a hand over her stomach, her voice firm. She was determined to lure Ethan out and find out what kind of secret dealings he had with Quinlee behind the scenes.
As for the baby, she had already made up her mind: she didn’t want it. She had planned everything. Once this issue was settled, she’d pretend to go on a trip to relax, and in a city where no one knew her, she’d have the pregnancy terminated.
After going upstairs, Ellie was stopped by Aaron. He asked, “Did Diana really leave the country?
“That’s what she told me when she called last night,”
Diana, being a fun–loving jewelry designer, often went abroad alone to watch shows. Ellie was used to it, but Aaron’s face clearly showed he was upset.
“Take some time to rest, Aaron comforted Ellie and then went back to his room. He immediately called Diana, but there was no answer. After hesitating for quite a while, Aaron finally got the courage to send her a text message.
Then the truth hit him–he was blacklisted. “Immature!” Aaron grumbled in frustration, sitting at the foot of the bed.
