Marvin said, “Ellie, you got a visitor.” Quinlee approached Ellie with a gloomy face. Ellie had purposely waited for Quinlee, and she kept her composure while leaving.
The two stood in the alley, and Ellie pretended not to know what was happening. “Is there something urgent that prompts you to seek me out?” she asked.
“Stop pretending, Ellie. What gives you the right to have the doctor examine me? Return my examination report immediately.” Quinlee’s anger was clear.
Ellie smiled slightly. “I did ask the doctor to do a thorough examination on you, and some findings have come up; however, the report is not with me at the moment.”
Quinlee looked like she was about to explode, her eyes filled with rage as she glared at Ellie, wishing she could make her pay. “Where did you leave the report? I’ll go with you to get it right now.”
Ellie coolly replied, “If I remember correctly, tomorrow is your birthday. In that case, you can get the report at seven o’clock tomorrow morning. Consider it my gift to you.”
“And if you find it inconvenient to come and get it, I’ll send the report directly to Winnie’s phone,” Ellie added, giving Quinlee a meaningful look before turning back to the clinic.
Before seven the next morning, Ellie saw Quinlee walking up the mountain, dressed casually. After days of heavy rain in Jaslands, the scenic area had been closed off to the public.
Ellie got through because Jason was a soldier and had a special pass. She often jogged here with Aaron in the early mornings, making her familiar with every corner of the area.
“Give me the examination report,” Quinlee demanded as she arrived, looking menacing.
Ellie walked leisurely, gazing at the raging river below. She turned back and smiled at Quinlee, “I’m afraid I forgot to bring it with me.”
Quinlee’s face twisted with fury. She lunged at Ellie. “Don’t think that you can control me with just an examination report. I am the daughter of the Janssen family, and my sister is Mrs. Grant!”
Ellie scoffed. “Whether it’s the Janssen family or the Grant family, Haley, you are not connected to either.”
Ellie’s words cut deep, exposing Quinlee’s true identity, and “Quinlee” suddenly looked pale. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Ellie, momentarily lost for words.
Seeing Haley’s reaction strengthened Ellie’s belief in her suspicions. She said, “I may not know everything about your schemes to become Quinlee and fool everyone, but even if you change your appearance, your eyes can’t lie.
“Despite your constant use of contact lenses, your efforts to dress like Quinlee, and even your attempts to change your voice, the substance injected into you is undeniably real. The report revealed that your follicle development is abnormal, just like mine.”
Ellie focused on Haley’s reaction and slowly articulated her next words, “If I’m right, you orchestrated the Owens family’s downfall–first, you killed Logan, then freed Ethan from prison, filling him with hatred until he wanted to seek revenge on
me.”
Ellie continued, “You were the one who sent the anonymous letter to Alex; you know him well enough to realize he would go crazy when he learned about my pregnancy. You planned to ruin both of us with your dirty tricks.
“But everyone knows I can’t be pregnant. I have an ultrasound to prove to the Warren family that I’m not pregnant, and Alex is serving his time, so he won’t be fooled by you again.”

“I don’t understand what you’re saying.” Haley shouted, frustration clear in her tone. That day, she had clearly heard Lewis say that Ellie was pregnant. She thought, I misheard?
“Hand over my report. I don’t want to hear your nonsense Haley’s heart raced as she lunged for Ellie’s bag.
Aaron was a prosecutor and knew how to gather evidence. Ellie learned that from him and had intentionally lured Haley here. Haley believed that even if Ellie had the report proving her infertility, there was no way for her to be accused.
She was the daughter of the Janssen family, and with the Owens family gone, she didn’t have to fear paternity tests. As long as she didn’t confess, she’d be safe.
Haley said, “Ellie, don’t think that keeping my report will be enough to incriminate me; you’re naive.”
Ellie kept her eyes on Haley’s expression and calmly added, “What if I told you that I have more evidence?”
Haley’s heart sank. She looked at the raging river below, her face darkening with malice.
“If you doubt me, I can make a call right now.” Ellie pulled out her phone, applying psychological pressure on Haley.
Seeing Ellie genuinely dialing a number, Haley panicked and lunged forward, grabbing Ellie by her collar, desperately trying to drag her toward the mountain’s edge. ‘You’re pushing me to my limit.
Jaslands had faced days of relentless rain, and no one had come to the scenic area. They stood on the mountaintop, with no one around; Haley had made sure there were no surveillance cameras there.
Haley clenched her teeth, in a frenzy, she shoved Ellie towards the edge. Ellie feared water; if Ellie was pushed over, it would be the end.
As Haley prepared to shove Ellie off, Ellie grabbed Haley and jumped into the river. A shrill scream escaped Haley as they plunged into the river with a loud splash..
Haley was still in shock when Ellie grabbed her hair and thrust her underwater. Struggling, Haley screamed. “When did you learn to swim?”
Ellie said, “Did you really think I would be foolish enough to reveal my weakness, giving you the upper hand to hurt me again?”
Holding her breath, Ellie swam behind Haley, wrapping Haley’s legs and pressing her knees hard against Haley’s back, summoning all her strength to twist Haley underwater.
The only people who knew Ellie was pregnant were her family. Aside from them, she would never admit to anyone else that she was pregnant.
With Alex’s fate in prison uncertain and the Warren family in chaos, even though Jason held a high–ranking military position and Aaron was a prosecutor, they were still law enforcement officers.
Haley’s claim to being Quinlee was undoubtedly confirmed. Even if Ellie could present all the evidence to expose Quinlee as Haley, the law demanded concrete proof.
Alex had often reminded her that the best defense is a strong counterattack. For her sake, her child’s, and her future, she had to put an end to this wicked woman herself.
As the sharp crack of breaking bones echoed, Ellie pulled a needle from her sleeve and drove it into Haley’s body. Ellie surfaced from the water, clutching a strand of plants, and released Haley.
She quietly watched as Haley, head down, was swept away by the powerful river, her body resembling driftwood, showing no signs of fighting back.
