File grined her teeth, trying to hold herself together. Ignoring the pain shooting through her wrist, she yanked her arm away from Alex and took a step back. With a chair now between them, their eyes met with intensity.

She watched as Haley clang to Alex’s arm with an upset expression, and Alex protected Haley as if he was ready to fight anyone who wronged her It seemed like Ellie was the one who was mistaken.
Holding back the tears, Ellie steadied her emotions and said. “Not every ‘sorry‘ can make things okay. She’s already done things wrong, and I don’t want to hear another apology.”
Haley quickly defended herself. “Ellie, how can you speak about me like this? What did I do to offend you!”
Ellie brushed past Haley, locking eyes with Alex defiantly, and neither of them looked away.
What was supposed to be a happy gathering turned into a mess, and Lacey quickly tried to calm things down. “Ellie, let’s not do this. Haley is Alex’s hance, and you’re all family. Whatever misunderstandings there are, can’t we just let them go?”
Haley released Alex and came over to Ellie. “Alright, alright, it’s my fault, okay? Ellie, you rarely come back home. L’s not run this into a big deal. Alex’s tone was a hit harsh because he was just 100 protective of me. Please don’t blame him, alright?”
Lacey quickly poured some drinks. “Exactly, Elle. Haley has already apologized. Don’t say mad. Have a drink together, and let’s move past this.”
Ellie Enally turned her gaze to Haley, noting her insincere expression, and then glanced at the awkward Modey siblings. Ellie said. “So if 1 drink. everything will just be alright?”
Haley faked a hurt expression. “Ellie, what are you saying? If you don’t like me. I’ll try to avoid you in the future. Let’s not make Alex uncomfortable, okay!”

I’m alright, Layton,” Ellie insisted, switching hands to hold the glass, then pulling away from Alex’s grip. In front of everyone, she drank all three glasses. The strong liquor burned her throat and stomach like fire, but it couldn’t compare to the pain in her heart.
The room suddenly fell eerily quiet, and the atmosphere became extremely awkward
Layton looked playfully at the nearly frantic Alex and said, “Haley, you’re no different. You knew Ellie couldn’t handle alcohol, so why did you insist on drinking with her?
“Ellie misunderstood me before. I just wanted to mend fences with her, not make her drink so much,” Haley said looking at Ales awkwardly.
As Alex stared intently at Ellie with a gloomy look, she quickly pulled Alex back to his seat. “Alex, I know you care about me. Ellie’s already had her drink, so don’t blame her. Just sit down.”
Ellie put down her glass and accidentally brushed her fingers against the fork on the plate, quickly pulling her hand back in pain.
“Ellie, your hand is bleeding” Lacey quickly grabbed a napkin and handed it over.
Ellie took the napkin and pressed it against her injured finger. I’m going to the restroom
She stumbled into the restroom, splashing cold water on her flushed cheeks over and over. Those who are favored are always fearless, so Haley could lie openly without worry. Meanwhile, Ellie had to keep her grievances to herself, even if she felt wronged.
Because she was having a crush on Alex secretly, she didn’t even have the right to be jealous. Life wasn’t like the movies, and she couldn’t read anyone’s mind. In her moments of frustration, she hated herself for not being able to control her emotions.
Some said one could forget his love either with time or with a new flame. Ellie chose time, using distance to let go of her obsession with Alex.

But those forgotten through time couldn’t bear a reunion, just one look into his eyes, and her hidden feelings would food back. Yet, she also knew trying to forget with a new love was just fooling herself, and it might drag an innocent person into it.

Not sure how long she’d been in the bathroom, Ellie stumbled out, feeling dizzy. She rarely drank, and this was the first time she had so much strong liquor. In such a short time, she felt like she was floating and her head was about to split open.

They stared at each other, neither speaking first. Alex looked upset and reached for Ellie’s injured hard, but she moved back to avoid him.
Alex frowned and stepped forward, trying again to grab her hand. She moved back again.
For the third time, Alex reached for her hand, and for the third time, she backed away until she was against the wall and hid her hand behind her
back.
With this repeated behavior, Alex lost his patience. He forcefully trapped Ellie in the narrow space between the wall and himself grabbing her wrist to inspect her finger. She clenched her hand tightly, struggling hard to prevent him from seeing it
Alex said. “Let me see”
Elle shook her head. “No, it’s none of your business.”
The two engaged in an intense struggle, neither willing to give up, and soon both were soaked in swear
