Chapter 22
Seraphina recognized Victor but had no recollection of Lucius, who was practically invisible to her. With a flick of her leg, she kicked Lucius, asserting, “If anything happens to Eleanor, I swear Ill ruin you and the man behind you.”
Lucius, clutching his stylish hairde, momentarily forgot about looking put together as he grimaced in pain. “Before we talk about ruining anyone, just come with me.” With a huff, Seraphina tossed her head back, completely dismissive of him, but followed him into the car. Throughout the ride, she tested Lucius and issued various threats, dropping hints about Eleanor’s prestigious family lineage, practically putting a knife to his throat with her warnings. But when they arrived at the gated community, she was met with a surprise that left her speechless.
Hyatt Grand Keep–this was the renowned landmark of Shining Capital.
The gated community had only thirty homes, all owned by influential figures. Just the mention of any resident’s background could leave someone in a state of shock. “Ha, who is your boss really?” Seraphina asked, now feeling agitated
“You’ll find out once we get inside,” Lucius replied, his irritation evident.
As dread filled Seraphina, her earlier bravado evaporated. No one here was someone she could afford to offend. The car rolled through the iron gates of a fountain–dotted mansion, and Seraphina stepped out, moving into a Spanish–style living room.
Eleanor sat on the sofa, wearing a soft white loungewear, her natural beauty shining without a trace of makeup.
“Eleanor, what on earth is going on? Did you get involved with some old man? Seraphina leaned in, lowering her voice. “Are you sacrificing yourself for Percival?” “Seraphina, there’s something I need to tell you, but please try to stay calm,” Eleanor said as she guided Seraphina to sit with her.
“Go on… you found a new boyfriend?”
“No…” Eleanor stifled a laugh and shook her head.
“That’s good…”
“I got married.”
“Wait…” Seraphina said, dumbfounded for a moment, before erupting. “What did you say? You’re married? How can you get married? Who did you marry? This isn’t a joke.
Just when Seraphina was reaching a fever pitch, Victor returned from his study on the first floor, his long strides authoritative. He walked behind the sofa and leaned in to mumble something Intimate to Eleanor, who obediently nodded in understanding, “Got it, I won’t take longer than half an hour.
Victor gave Seraphina a deep, satisfied look before heading upstairs, leaving her in complete disbelief.
“Eleanor, pinch me! I need to know if I’m dreaming.”
“Why would you say that?” Eleanor urged her down, reminding her to calm down.
“Just to clarify, the one you married is Henry’s CEO, Victor?”
“Mm–hmm,”
“Really married?” Seraphina asked, her uncertainty palpable.
“You’re not mistaken; he’s my new husband, Eleanor confirmed seriously with a nod
Upon hearing the answer, Seraphina transitioned from extreme worry to pure joy. “No wonder your past statement blew up on trending! Even money can’t take Percival’s defamation down! Eleanor, you blew my mind!”
“That’s how it should be! Even if you’re getting married, it shouldn’t be to someone like that loser Percival. But I can’t believe you ended up marrying the CEO of Henry! Do you know how many levels apart Heavens Arts and Henry are? What a satisfying revenge! If that trash Percival finds out, he’ll be furious!
