It had been two days since Elara had taken Celeste for the pregnancy test. Finally, we were about to know whether Celeste‘ s claims were real or a scheme. Alpha Xavier had ordered the result to be publicly announced. He had taken this opportunity to inform everyone and prevent false rumors from spreading. But tension filled. the council room as everyone gathered, eager yet dreading what was to come.

Across from him, Celeste sat with a faint, serene smile and hands folded on her lap as if she already knew the answer. Her gaze darted between Alpha Xavier and me with an unmistakable smugness. I refused to look away. Celeste would not see me break, regardless of the result.
The door finally opened, and Elara entered, holding a thin folder. She glanced at Alpha Xavier with a respectful nod and stood beside him. The room fell silent as every gaze locked onto the slim folder she held.
“Thank you for your patience,” Elara began calmly.
“Two days ago, I conducted a full examination on Celeste. Today, I have the results.”
Alpha Xavier gave a sharp nod.
“Proceed.”

Her eyes briefly settled on Cassandra, whose face had turned pale. I hadn’t spoken to Cassandra, but I could tell she hadn’t stopped blaming herself, and it was eating her inside. As for Celeste, she barely flinched. She kept her gaze on Elara, but her fingers twitched slightly.
Elara flipped the folder and read the result.

involved, I took extra precautions to
confirm each symptom. The examination. was exhaustive.”
“And?” Alpha Xavier asked.
“This pregnancy impacts more than just the individuals involved. It concerns the pack‘ s legacy and leadership, so accuracy here was essential. Almost all skilled
healers had assisted to ensure we took the

She placed a protective hand over her stomach and shot me a smirk.
“You see, Alpha? I told you. All I said was true.”
“Hold your excitement,” I muttered, unable to hold myself.
Celeste turned and smiled coldly at me.
“Jealousy isn’t a good look for you, Luna Raven. Some of us were meant to lead. Others are just placeholders.”
“Is that so?” I shot back.
“Then keep quiet and let Elara do her job if you‘ re so confident.”
Celeste‘ s face stiffened, though she
quickly masked it with another smug smile.

“I have nothing to hide. Soon, everyone here will know I am carrying Alpha Xavier’s heir. And I deserved that utmost care and recognition.”

“A healer’s duty is to assist the Alpha‘ s needs. And the Alpha needs an heir, doesn’t he?”
Alpha Xavier s eyes darkened, his hands. curled into fists, and he hit the table.

Celeste leaned back, casting a victorious. glance around the room as if she had already won.
“Of course, Alpha.”
I clenched my fists, forcing myself to remain silent, but the frustration clawed at

continued.
“All this buildup for what? Just please say it already, Elara,” Celeste muttered impatiently.
