I cried with joy. “I’m sorry everyone. I will never leave the team again. I want to travel around the world with you all and show my true value.”
Felix held a handkerchief to wipe away my tears and said. “Annabelle, it’s an honor for
our team that you’re back. Don’t blame yourself, you’ve always been the best.”
Someone winked and smiled while saying, “The happiest person for Annabelle’s
return is Felix. It’s fortunate that he has been waiting for you silently for so many years and has been single.”
I looked at him in astonishment. He blushed and pursed his lips. “It’s my business to like you. You don’t have to feel burdened. I respect all your decisions.”
“There is one more thing.” He looked at me hesitantly. “I’m sorry, Annabelle, your child was squeezed when you jumped into the

sea, and he can’t be saved.”
I touched my stomach in confusion.
I sighed for this little life that came here so short. It was better that he was gone. From now on, I would completely cut off ties with Timothee and have nothing to do with him anymore.
Since then, my team and I had devoted ourselves to the rescue work, shuttling between war–torn countries, and with our meager efforts, we had saved many dying people.
The children made wreaths for me, and the adults prepared for me all the delicious food and clothes they could afford.
We gathered around the bonfire, praying and singing praises for the hope of survival during the brief gap when the war had
subsided.
These fresh thoughts gave me immense satisfaction.

In just two short years, I felt like I was truly alive.
What I did not expect was that one day, I would be able to see Timothee again.
That day, I had just finished bandaging a wounded patient when a child I had rescued pointed behind me.
In the midst of the ruins and corrugated walls, the tall figure of the man was
hunched over, with untidy beard and thin bodies.
“Annabelle.”
There were tears of surprise in his eyes, and his voice trembled as he shouted.
“It’s great that you’re still alive. I thought I’d never see you again in this life.”
Seeing my indifferent expression, he hurriedly took out a pair of dazzling rings from his pocket.

When you had me kidnapped and humiliated for Tatiana and made me a reproductive machine for her, didn’t you ever think about today?”
“I don’t understand why you dare to say you love me after all the heartless things you’ve done to me.”
Timothee held his head and cried
painfully. “Honey, I’m sorry, I’m really sorry. I killed Tatiana. I tied her up in the basement and found a man who had three
times more powerful than you had to humiliate her. I made her miscarry six children before I killed her. I’ve avenged you. Please don’t leave me, okay?”
I fixed my eyes on him, and Timothee thought I had softened my heart. He was about to come and take my hand, but I
