Chapter 6
On the day I was discharged from the hospital, Zach and I went to sue for divorce.
Then, Zach drove me back to the familiar house.
I sat in the car, unwilling to get out. “Just take me to a hotel.”
Zach handed me the house keys. “The divorce agreement stipulates that I’m giving you this house. You can stay here in peace. I’ll transfer the rest of the money to your account as soon as possible.”
I didn’t take them. “Oh, then sell it. I don’t want to go back in. Being there makes me feel sick, like I’m going to throw up.”
Zach took a deep breath and said in a hoarse voice, “Alright.”
During that month–long cooling–off period, I signed up for a yoga class to help with

weight loss and body shaping after my miscarriage while also analyzing the company’s decisions since my resignation.
I wanted to start my new life after the divorce.
Although what Laura said that day was heartbreaking, it was indeed my reality.
Nora’s life shouldn’t be like that. Nora’s life should be bright!
Within a month, I lost ten pounds and became a new person.
Although my face and body hadn’t fully returned to what they were before, my waistline was getting visible, and I no longer had a double chin. The spots I had. developed during my pregnancy had also faded significantly.
On the day of the divorce judgment, Laura was also there.
She had gained quite a bit of weight over the month, and she looked very haggard.

She didn’t dress up much, looking quite different from the triumphant appearance she had a month ago.
From afar, I saw her entangled with Zach, talking about something. Zach, however, pushed her away. She stumbled and squatted on the ground, starting to cry.
Some onlookers advised, “Young man, your wife looks several months pregnant. How can you divorce her at this time? What will happen to your child in the future? Wouldn’t it be better for you as a couple to live happily?”
“Isn’t the child in her belly yours?”
“Oh dear, then you must divorce.”
Their words became increasingly outrageous.
With the onlookers growing in number, Zach and Laura were trapped in the crowd for a long time, unable to get out.

the ground and shout, “Whose money is that?”
Instantly, the onlookers abandoned their gossip and ran towards the bill.
When Zach saw me, his eyes flickered with surprise.
“It seems you’ve had a good month,” he said. with a wry smile. “Are you this happy without me?”
Laura stood up and protectively positioned herself behind Zach like a mother bear.
“Nora, don’t forget you’re here to divorce Zach. Did you dress up like this because you regretted it and came to steal my man?”
I scoffed and looked Zach up and down.
He seemed a bit hungover, his hair a bit messy, his beard unshaven. He looked unkempt and embarrassed.
Moreover, if I was not mistaken, his belly was slightly bulging. He seemed to have gained some weight.

“It seems you’ve had a rough month,” I said to Zach almost affirmatively.
Zach gave a wry smile. “How could I be well without you?”
I ignored his words and walked straight towards the county court.
Zach followed behind me silently.
The divorce proceedings went smoothly.
Looking at the divorce decree in my hand, I felt much freer.
Zach asked me quietly, “Nora, my mother wants me to marry Laura and accept the child in her belly, but I don’t want to. I only want you. Now, if you just say you don’t want me to marry Laura, I can take you away right now.”
I looked at him with a bright smile. “I wish you a harmonious marriage forever.”
